This map of PokéStops & Gyms in S’pore is fascinating yet also dangerous

Everyone has got crazy over Pokémon Go, and with rumours of the cute little monsters reaching the shores of Singapore soon, it has made more Singaporeans even more excited.

Therefore, it’s not unexpected that someone decided to create a map that projects where the PokéStops and Gyms would be located on our tiny island.

Map1

I know what you’re thinking: that’s a handful.

PokéStops are places whereby players would be able to collect items, such as PokéBalls or even Pokémon Eggs. If the player stays in the place longer, he will be able to collect more items as the items would be “refreshed” for the player to collect again.

Sounds like a pretty good idea for companies to attract people to their premises? You bet. Pokémon Go developer, Niantic Labs, will be introducing sponsored location in-game, encouraging people to physically go to a location just to collect the virtual items while at the same time hoping that they’ll spend some real money in the place.

Pokémon Go’s gyms are places whereby players would have their Pokémon battle against each other. Working just like PokéStops, it requires the players to be physically in the same place.

Knowing the locations of the PokéStops and Gyms would mean that players do not need to travel around aimlessly—it’s like a walkthrough. In fact, in other countries, there are already maps created.

This interactive map not just shows where the PokéStops are in the UK: it shows you the locations of the PokéStops, Gyms and also rare Pokémon. Kinda spoil the fun of the game, eh?

Map2

It’s really hard to believe that this game is less than three weeks old!

Now, back to the Singapore map—it sure is interesting, with some places that would keep couch potatoes out of their houses to some of Singapore’s beautiful places, like Bukit Batok Nature Park, National Museum of Singapore and Area C in East Coast Park.

But explore more and your jaw will drop: there’re two PokéStops at Pulau Tekong (albeit not in the forested area), one at SAF Ferry Terminal, one at the tank display outside Gedong camp and even three at Bedok Reservoir.

Here’s the description of the map.

Pokémon Go Singapore

Please note that this map is still building in progress and is nowhere near completion. We will be setting up a site soon for submission of Pokéstops and Gyms locations.

Once the game is officially launched and the positions are verified, the pins will be changed to a full colored pin.

Another layer will be created for the locations of all 151 Pokémon in time to come as well.

Together, we are strong!

I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to play Pokémon Go with this map, I’ll just take the MRT and tour around Singapore, because it seems like most MRT stations have a PokéStop or a Gym.

Now, that’ll get everyone moving.
