There are many ways to get what you want in life.
Okay, so there are mainly two – working hard and being born into a filthy rich family.
But throughout history, people have used all sorts of creative methods to obtain something they desperately need.

Instead of doing this, however, one woman took the sociopathic route.
Woman Took Photos of Herself Threatening Her Elderly Mother With a Knife So Her Supervisor Would Lend Her $50
The woman in question is Chua Hui Shan, a 35-year-old who was working as a cashier at the Sheng Siong supermarket in Chin Swee Road.
At the time of the offence, Chua was living with her mother.
On 12 June this year, Chua asked her supervisor for a S$50 loan, saying she owed some money to unlicensed moneylenders.
The supervisor said no, however, and this is where Chua should have said: oh, that’s okay. Don’t worry about it.
Instead, she said: “If you don’t lend me money, I will kill my mother.”

She also said: “I dare to do it, if don’t believe you can try.”

If that wasn’t frightening enough, the chilling threat was sent in an audio message on WhatsApp.
And this wasn’t an empty threat. Chua actually got a knife from the kitchen and headed to the living room, where her elderly mother was.
She held the blade close to her 71-year-old mother’s neck, and told her she wanted to kill her.
Unlike most killers, however, Chua didn’t actually go through with the act, and instead took a picture.
She then shoved her poor mother, who must have been very frightened and confused, before sending the image to her supervisor.

Yes, she did all this just because he wouldn’t lend her S$50.
Notified the Police
The supervisor, who was understandably concerned, reported the incident to their store manager.
The manager called Chua a few times, but she did not pick up, and so the manager lodged a police report.
Chua was arrested that same day.
Six Weeks’ Jail
For her bizarre crime, Chua was sentenced on Wednesday (1 Sep) to six weeks in prison.

She had pleaded guilty to one count of criminal intimidation, and another charge under the Protection from Harassment Act was taken into consideration for sentencing.
Criminal intimidation carries a penalty of up to two years and a fine, so Chua, in a sense, got off lightly.
Man Attacked Own Mother Because She Didn’t Reveal Her ATM Card’s Pin
This calls to mind a similar incident in 2018 where a man beat up his own mother with her walking stick.
Why? Because she didn’t reveal her ATM card’s pin.
The 77-year-old woman was so badly injured from the attack that she had to crawl out of bed the next day.
In the end, the man, Adrian Yap Yin Leung, was sentenced earlier this year to jail for five years and three months.

Unlike Chua, he was charged with voluntarily causing hurt.
