This is not the first reported landed-home fire in the Kovan area in recent weeks. In early September, a house at Simon Lane caught fire, leaving one person taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and damaging a neighbouring home.

SCDF Has Reminded Residents About Home Fire Risks

SCDF has reminded residents that common causes of residential fires include unattended cooking, electrical fires, and unattended lighted materials.

Residents are advised not to leave cooking unattended, to keep stoves, cooker hoods and ovens clean, and to avoid overloading power sockets. SCDF also advises against charging electronic devices overnight when nobody is monitoring them.
