Well, I never expected, when witnessing the end of the world, to see Donald Trump, convicted felon, and the poor man’s vision of what a rich man looks like, to be the one leading its downfall.
I also didn’t expect it to happen twice, but here we are.
And now, it seems like he is taking Elon Musk, the world’s most divorced man and the idiot’s vision of what a genius looks like, along with him.
Trump, who is about to be the 47th President of the United States of America, has just announced on Tuesday (12 Nov) that Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the newly formed, “Department of Government Efficiency” or DOGE.
(Yes. Like the meme and Musk’s favourite cryptocurrency. I’m sorry.)
The department, which is NOT an actual government agency, will offer the White House “advice and guidance”.
It will partner with the Office of Management and budget to “drive large scale structural reform” while also creating an “entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before,” which will shock government systems.
“Together these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump said in a statement.
The goal is for both Musk and Ramaswamy would complete their work by no later than 4 July 2026, or the 250th Independence Day for the US.
The smaller and more efficient government would be a “gift” to the country, Trump added.
Trump has compared the newly announced DOGE initiative to the Manhattan Project, known as the top-secret World War Two programme to develop the first nuclear weapons.
Musk recently called for cuts in federal spending of at least $2 trillion. This is nearly a third of the government’s budget.
He has also proposed removing hundreds of federal agencies as he believes that many of them have overlapping areas of responsibility.
No specifics have been given on how and where the cuts would be applied.
Ramaswamy has also been pushing for cost-cutting in the corporate sector.
Neither Musk nor Ramaswamy have any government experience.
On X, also known as Twitter, which Musk owns, Musk posted, “This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!”
The man also posted that he would post actions of the department online for the sake of “maximum transparency,” inviting the public to send over their opinions or objections of what was getting cut. He also promised to keep “a leaderboard for most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars”.
Ramaswamy posted, “We will not go gently, @elonmusk”, in response to the announcement of his appointment to his new role on X.
What Musk Stands To Gain
Musk has contributed millions of dollars to support the presidential campaign, having made multiple public appearances with Trump on the campaign trail.
With this new government portfolio, Musk stands to benefit for his companies and businesses that favour artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency.
After all, if you’ve Tesla stocks, you’d have just huat-ed in the last few days.
