We all agree that the Internet is filled with nothing but truthfulness: that influencer whom you’ve been stalking definitely looks like a diva 24 hours a day, and travel 365 days a year.
Your friend is in a great relationship because he’s been posting lovey-dovey images on Instagram, despite the fact that you saw him on Tinder this morning.
With so many people having such a perfect image online, we thought of having a weekly section called #TuesdayTruthday, whereby we Goody Feed, the imperfect human beings on the Internet, reveal some of our stories to show you the truth online.
We know that Halloween week has just past, but that isn’t going to stop us from sharing more spooky stories about the scariest horror movie or game we’ve ever watched or played.
Now, if you’re like me, a natural scaredy-cat, you probably wouldn’t watch that many horror movies. Or perhaps, you would even avoid them like the plague.
But of course, there are still people who watch horror movies for the thrill of it. They don’t like jumpscares because it’s too predictable. Rather, they prefer the horror elements of it, like the setting, the psychological trauma the show leaves you with, how they play with your subconscious.
Horror games are brilliant at creating an immersive experience, allowing the player to feel genuine fear in the game.
So with all that said, here are three stories about Goody Feed Human Beings’ scariest movie/game.
The One Who Saw The Girl With 360° Head Spin – Deputy Editor, 20
I still remember the time when I was five when my brother pulled my hand and told me that we should watch a movie.
Being five, I was excited at that thought. He pulled out a CD case, and the front of it was ominous. It was night time, clearly, and the words The Exorcist were sprawled at the top of the CD case. A man can be seen standing outside a large house, about to enter it.
I didn’t know what the movie was about. I didn’t know what it was going to be. I was five after all. And you would think that with the dark colours of the CD case, I should have known that I wasn’t going to enjoy it.
The movie follows a girl who ends up getting possessed. During this, a priest is called to the house to get rid of the ghost inside her, but he fails to do so. Her entire body floats above her bed. Her head also does a 360° turn. In another scene, she can be seen walking upside down on all fours.
It looks funny here but she does it so fast in the movie that it scared the shit out of me.
Needless to say, I was scared shitless after the movie and I had many sleepless nights because of it. There was also that maze game that was so popular back then where you had to focus really hard and then all of a sudden, a picture of the girl from The Exorcist will pop out along with a shrill scream.
Thinking about all of that still gives me shivers till this day.
The One Who Played The Game With Murderous Creatures – Writer, 27
Look, a lot of people are going to disagree with me on this: Bloodborne.
Yes, the PS4 game. So let me explain. (Or you can also watch a longer video by Foxcade and StopMakingSense)
In this world of spoilers, going into the world of Dark Souls and Bloodborne would pretty much not be very scary.
And that’s probably why it’s not scary for you. You see, horror is largely fear, which is amplified by the unknown.
So what happens if you plop someone who doesn’t play horror games (or the Souls Series) on the guise of saying it’s a harmless action RPG, and then the first mofo you see in-game is this?
You die. Then you pray to the unkind gods that this is some kind of a joke.
Nope. Next, you’ll find yourself surrounded by murderous citizens and flesh-eating crows that somehow sound like dogs. And they’ll all kill you easily too.
Maybe it’s just the first part! You’ll level up and get over the initial hurdle soon!
Nope. Progress further and you see shit like this:
Or maybe you fancy some kind of man-shark abomination:
Meanwhile, people say that Juon with their weak sauce white makeup is horror. Or the Nun with their poor oral care teeth is horror.
Yeah, I’m sorry people. Compared to Bloodborne monsters, the beautiful ladies in those “horror” movies are basically girlfriend material there. Friendly NPCs in Bloodborne look far scarier than them.
Warning: Next picture might scare some people.
Give me a choice between being transported to the world of Bloodborne, or the world of The Ring, and I’ll pick the latter always.
Bloodborne is a horror game. Fight me if you disagree.
The One Who Never Liked It When The Lights Went Out – Editor, 22
I think a lot of people won’t find this movie as scary as I did. I’ll list out the reasons why:
- I sleep with the lights on every single night.
- If a show is relatable, it’s scary to me.
If you haven’t already guessed, the horror movie in question is called Lights Out (2016).
Basically, you’ll see the silhouette of a woman with claws when the lights go out. However, you aren’t able to see it when the lights are on.
As someone who ALWAYS sleeps with a night light, this frightened me to the core.
It has been three years since I watched the movie and I still think about it if my night light accidentally switches off.
Yes, I’m a scared-y cat.
And the worst scene was when they were stuck in a house during a blackout and they had to resort to using candles and emergency flashlights to keep the creepo monster at bay.
Okay, that’s enough horror for one afternoon.
