When it comes to maths, most of the time it is either a love or hate relationship. Either we excel in it, or we cry over the “X” we cannot find.
Yes, maths can literally make people lose their minds and cry.
Both ‘Tutor’ & Student Caught on Camera Crying During a Maths Tuition Session
In China, a 12-year-old boy cried in frustration after teaching his nine-year-old sister mathematics. Worst of all, the sister was very stubborn and argued back with him.
The video was posted by their mother and has garnered much attention online.
Initially, the brother was gentle and patient with his sister, but it soon turned into an argument. The boy, who was confident of the answer, was furious that his sister did not follow his instructions.
“I told her directly the answer that there are three right angles in this picture, but she still insisted that there are two right angles,” the boy said.
“I’ve pointed out to her the three angles. She was so stubborn that she still said there are just two,” he added.
In the video, it also seemed as though he was about to collapse from anger as he was grasping tightly at a chair.
His sister started sobbing, while the boy was ranting incessantly to their mother.
Reactions From Netizens
Some people empathised with the boy and understood the pain of teaching someone, especially a loathsome subject like mathematics.
Another netizen felt that the boy did a good job but the parents should be the overall-in-charge of the kids and not give kids stress.
Similar Incidents in The Past
There have been other instances in the past where people lose their minds over tutoring someone.
Earlier in June, a father broke down at his child for scoring six out of 100 on his mathematics test. It was stated that he tutored his child daily for the past year.
Apparently, according to his wife, the son’s test score ranges from 40 to 50 or even 80 to 90. This time, six points seem to be quite out of the range.
“I don’t care anymore, my efforts are wasted, let him struggle by himself,” said the father.
