If you’re an avid Twitter user like me, chances are you’ve probably seen this circulating around your Twitter timeline.
Maybe on Facebook and Instagram too, because literally everyone is talking about this.
Because this is a better love story than Twilight.
Meet The New Batman
When an article first got reported that Robert Pattinson was going to play Bruce Wayne, or Batman as we all know it, people were in disbelief.
And I’m one of them. When I first read the article, I literally went WTF in my head. Not that I’m against him playing the role, but I had so many questions.
If the name Robert Pattinson doesn’t ring a bell, you may know him as Edward Cullen from the Twilight series. Yes, the vampire dude who’s 超级白 (super white).
I guess we can all agree that he used to be one of our crushes when we were a young, naive teenager. If you’re a millennial, that is.
And of course, people of the internet never missed an opportunity to make memes out of this.

And as of 31 May 2019, we now have our new caped crusader, Robert Pattinson.
Won the Role
Pattinson was not the only one in consideration for the role, though. He had another competitor.
Nicholas Hoult, who plays Beast in the X-men series, was also considered for the role.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros.-DC Comics were torn between both actors since they wanted both actors on the film. It was a big decision for the franchise. Ultimately, Pattinson was deemed a better fit for the role.
He will be playing the caped crusader for the next few Batman films, hopefully. He will not be continuing the work of Ben Affleck who plays the older version of Bruce Wayne in Batman Vs Superman and Justice League, though.
Instead, he will be playing a younger version of Bruce Wayne, in the formative stages of Batman. Which is why they needed an actor who is in his 30s.
The film will be directed by Matt Reeves and produced by Dylan Clark. The two have previously worked together for the Planet of the Apes films. The upcoming Batman movie will reportedly begin shooting later this year, and will be released on 25 June 2021.
Pattinson’s Filmography
Beside’s his very famous role of Edward Cullen, Pattinson has starred in many other movies and played a variety of roles.
Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter
Before he rose to fame in Twilight, Pattinson starred in two movies from the Harry Potter series. Bet you didn’t know that? He played Cedric Diggory, who is featured in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Edward Cullen from Twilight
I don’t have to add an image because I’m sure everyone knows how he looks like, right? The tall, white dude that sparkles under the sun.
From 2008 to 2012, Pattinson starred in all five movies of the Twilight saga as Edward Cullen. We would all have watched at least 1 movie in our lifetime. Some of us maybe even all. (Me. I’m all.)
Tyler Hawkins from Remember Me
Remember Me is a romance coming-of age film, where he starred as the male lead. Though the film was negatively received by critics, at least the kids loved it. In fact, he won a teen choice award for Choice Movie Actor: Drama.
Not going to lie, but I’m actually looking forward to a familiar face playing the role of Bruce Wayne. If he does it good enough, maybe I’ll finally give DC movies a chance.
