Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d have heard about the Singapore-born comedian Jocelyn Chia inappropriate MH370 saga.

If you haven’t, read this article which has everything you need to know.

A lot has happened since Jocelyn Chia first dropped her MH370 bomb at Comedy Cellar in New York.

Singapore apologised publicly and said Chia’s comments does not represent Singapore and it was made clear that Chia is no longer a Singapore citizen.

Well, if you’d thought that this issue is over, think again.

UMNO Youth Will Protest in Front of US Embassy in M’sia Against Jocelyn Chia’s Insults

On 9 June 2023, Umno Youth will be leading a march to the United States embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

The objective of the march: to protest against remarks made by Jocelyn Chia.

The man who made the call to march on to the US embassy is Umno Youth chief Muhamad Aklmal Saleh.

Addressing delegates at the youth wing’s meeting on Thursday, Dr Akmal says that the insult “cannot be accepted” by both Malaysians and Umno Youth.

“She has insulted and belittled Malaysians. In a condescending tone. She said ‘F*** you Malaysia.'”

Umno Youth delegates will march and gather in front of the US Embassy at 2.30pm and submit a protest letter.

March was Originally Planned For S’pore Embassy

It seems like Singapore’s quick actions has saved the Singapore embassy staff in Malaysia some trouble.

The march was originally planned to head to the Singapore High Commission.

However, as Chia is no longer a Singapore citizen, the direction of the march has naturally changed as well.

Back on 8 June 2023, Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, responded to the incident.

He clarified that Chia is no longer a Singaporean and does not represent the sentiments Singapore has towards Malaysia.

Police Report Allegedly Lodged Against Jocelyn Chia

That’s not all; Dr Akmal also claims that he has directed an exco member to lodge a police report against Chia.

He is also calling upon the Malaysian government to ban her from the country, ensuring that she can never step foot in Malaysia.

According to Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi, an investigation into Jocelyn Chia’s remarks will be conducted by the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Once investigations are completed, the matter will be handled over to the Attorney-General’s Chamber.
