There are a ton of reasons to brandish a knife on someone.
Good reasons, though, not so much.
Just yesterday, two men in a coffeeshop decided they were “unhappy” with how each other looked, so one pulled out a knife and threatened to attack the other.
This might possibly top the list of the stupidest reasons to pull out a knife on someone.
Happened At A Coffee Shop
The incident happened at 3 pm on 26 May, on Block 34 Upper Cross Street.
In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, a witness surnamed Jiang recounted the strange incident in its entirety. According to him, the dispute involved two middle-aged men in their forties to fifties.
Before it happened, one of them was sitting outside the coffee shop and the other was sitting outside. Both were simply drinking coffee.
Till this point, everything sounds normal, so how did the knife even come into play?
At that time, Mr Jiang was caught up doing business, and suddenly, the man inside the stall yelled at the man outside the stall. The former then headed inside the stall, which sold duck rice, and retrieved a knife.
According to a 67-year old unnamed assistant at the duck rice stall, the man simply walked into the stall and took a knife, frightening her. Although she wanted to step forward to stop him, she was worried the man would turn the knife on her in a fit of anger, so she did not do so.
She said the man who took the knife would occasionally visit the coffee shop, but the workers there were not familiar with him.
Stopped By A Cleaner
The assistant said that the man took the knife and headed towards the man outside the coffee shop, but was stopped in his tracks by 63-year-old cleaner Hong Ailin.
Ms Hong had only been working in the coffee shop for just ten days. She said that the other diners had tried to dissuade the man, and told him to be less impulsive.
Spurred on by them, she stepped forward to stop him, and asked him why he was holding a knife and what he planned to do.
According to her, the man with the knife said he was “unhappy” with how the man outside the coffee shop looked, and hence wanted to scare him with a knife.
A total leap in logic, indeed.
Upon hearing this, she asked the man to put the knife down or she would call the police. He actually did so and returned to his seat to continue drinking coffee.
However, the dispute was still not over. Not long after, the two men started to quarrel again, and got into an argument. When the police arrived at the scene, though, the two men were already gone.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that a 73-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal intimidation, and no one was injured in the incident.
Investigations are still ongoing.
13 Year Old Punched Delivery Rider After The Latter Said “See What?”
In other reports of stupid fights, a 13-year-old boy punched a 45-year-old food delivery rider after the rider said, “See what?” to him.
The boy, incensed by this, uttered a loud battle cry in Mandarin, and charged towards the rider.
The rider wisely decided not to engage in this fight, and blocked a few punches while retreating to his vehicle. He did, however, sustain a few punches to his head
Really, what kind of ah beng disputes are these?
