Amidst this pandemic outbreak, one single accessory has become the Gucci of old:
Face masks.
And for good reason too. Though face masks admittedly do little to prevent those dreaded bacterial particles from entering your nostrils, they do well to prevent yours from leaking out.
Which, in a sense, works just as well too.
So really, it’s no wonder why reputable brands all around the world have turned to face masks as a form of ‘side income’. Whether it’s Adidas, UnderArmour, or in this case Uniqlo, they’ve all dived deep into uncharted waters…
And were rewarded handsomely for it, as the following excerpt would surely attest to.
Uniqlo Launching Its Popular AIRism Masks, That Was Sold out in Japan, in S’pore on 24 Aug
According to Mothership, Uniqlo has announced the launch of its AIRism mask in Singapore.
Now, lest you’re unaware, the masks were real hot property over in Japan.
Having retailed in Japan from 19 June onwards, long snaking queues were soon witnessed outside every Uniqlo store.

Well erm… so maybe Singaporeans aren’t the only kiasu ones after all?
In fact, the demand was so high that the Uniqlo website actually crashed.
Which makes me wonder whether it’s just an Asian thing.
Suffice to say, however, the results were overwhelming. And so, nobody could fault Uniqlo for launching it internationally.
Including Singapore.
AIRism Mask
Comprising three layers, including a nano-filter that shields 99 per cent of bacteria and pollen, as well as a layer with a UV protection factor of 50+, the AIRism mask is reportedly machine washable and can be cleaned for up to 20 times.
The mask is also said to possess a layer that is “free of the stiffness or thickness” of other non-woven or cotton masks, and as such is portrayed as being more breathable.
Apparently, masks are available in three sizes:
- Children
- Small adult faces
- Regular adult dimensions
So if you have a K-Pop kind of face, you’ll be inclined to go for the second one. Whereas if you sport a face that’s reminiscent of Hansup Chicken Eatery’s Dua Piang, you might wanna go for the third.
As per routine fashion choice, the mask is available in black and white, with each pack containing three masks of the same colour and size.
Each pack will purportedly retail at S$14.90 and will retail starting 24 August.
And So… What’re You Waiting For?
Well, based on what some experts are saying, mask-wearing seems like a necessity for the next few months, or year, at least.
Whether you’re looking for a suitable ‘perm-mask’ alternative to replace your per-use ones, or are just a closet fan of face masks, one thing’s for sure;
You shouldn’t miss out on Uniqlo’s latest offer.
Plus, considering how Uniqlo has slapped a purchase limit of one pack per person..
I think we would not have to worry about a one-day wipeout.
Though then again, Singaporeans are tagged as ‘kiasu’ for a reason.
So make your purchase asap, folks.
Because in ten days’ time… it’s war.
