As the pandemic continues with the emergence of the Omicron variant, countries have since differed in their methods used to continue their fight against COVID-19.
Countries such as Denmark and Sweden for example have decided to lift COVID-19 measures altogether while China continues with its strict “zero-cases” policy.
In the case of the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on 24 February that most Americans will no longer be advised to wear masks in indoor public spaces in light of the declining hospitalisation and infection rates.
Present COVID-19 Guidelines In USA
Currently, mask-wearing is still advised for people living in communities of substantial and high transmission which covers about 95% of U.S. counties.
However, current statistics on caseloads as well as local hospital capacities inform the CDC that the majority of Americans would not be located in areas where masking is recommended.
This is due to the decline of the Omicron infection curve where the subsiding of infection rates have gotten almost all states who had mask mandates in place to drop them or announce they will.
The only exceptions made are for public settings such as schools, public transit, and medical facilities where mask-wearing would still be recommended regardless of their vaccination status.

COVID-19 Statistics So Far In USA
As of 24 February, the U.S. has recorded more than 78.7 million confirmed COVID1-9 cases and 942,000 deaths. More than 215 million Americans have also been vaccinated according to the CDC.
Regarding the second vaccine dose, CDC has updated that vaccinated individuals should consider waiting up to eight weeks instead of the previously advised four and three weeks, between doses. Currently, about 64.8% of Americans are fully vaccinated.
So fingers crossed that Singapore might ease up on our measures soon just like the mentioned countries when the Omicron infection curve starts to flatten here.
