COVID-19 hasn’t just led to more fines in Singapore.
It also led to a lot of initiatives with interesting names, like Project Frontier (Funds Recovery Options and Networks Team, Inspiring Effective Response) and SingapoRediscovers vouchers.
And now, a new initiative has joined the lineup: The VacciNation Campaign.
I don’t know about you but I would love to meet the guys behind the names.
VacciNation Campaign Launched to Raise Awareness of COVID-19 Vaccines and Encourage Vaccinations
On Tuesday (2 Mar), Minister for Communications and Information S. Iswaran announced a new campaign to raise awareness for COVID-19 vaccination in Singapore.
The campaign, he says, will also address and debunk fake news and misconceptions about the COVID-19 vaccination in Singapore.
Something really important given how a previous survey didn’t show promising results.
In his address in parliament, Mr Iswaran stresses that the “first line of defence” against misinformation is citizens receiving “accurate” information from “reliable sources in a timely manner”.
Accessing Across All Age Groups
Just as not every platform is created equal, not all age groups access the same platforms.
To combat this, the authorities have tried to create as many channels as possible on both traditional media and new ones like TikTok, Instagram and Telegram.
Currently, Gov.sg has 1.2 million subscribers on its WhatsApp channel.
For the people not connected to the internet or social media, they’re also carrying out face-to-face outreach programmes.
REACH
It’s not just awareness. Even REACH, the government’s feedback unit, has been broadening its methods of collecting data.
Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information Sim Ann said that, despite the pandemic in 2020, REACH managed to garner responses from almost 60,000 people.
They opened up new channels, including open dialogues, to achieve that.
Information is also being pushed out in the four official languages wherever possible, and if you watch Mediacorp, you’ll realise that there are advertisements with dialects as well.
