Chinese tourists don’t exactly have the best reputation in the world.
I mean, they’re known for doing some of the most interesting things that’ll surface online.
Like climbing on Sakura trees for pictures. Sacred Sakura Trees.
It got so bad that their own government has to ban their own countrymen from travelling if they screwed up badly while on holidays.
In Singapore, the Chinese Embassy printed a 50-page booklet teaching Chinese visitors how to behave when they’re in Singapore.
And now, tourists that spoke in Chinese are in the limelight again. This time for allegedly ill-treating a swan.
Here’s What Happened
A group of Chinese-speaking tourists were caught on camera manhandling a swan in Switzerland.
The footage was shot near the iconic Schwanenplatz (Swan Square) and showed tourists surrounding a large swan.
A woman was teasing the bird with a piece of paper and the swan snatched the paper from her hand.
A voice allegedly exclaimed in the background, “Wait, I haven’t got the shot yet!”
At this point in time, another woman stepped in and grabbed the bird around the head and neck, trying to retrieve the piece of paper.
The other tourists who were at the scene were shocked at her actions.
Chinese Netizens Slam Chinese Tourists In Video
When the video was uploaded online, it was shared extensively on Chinese social media as well.
Chinese netizens slammed the tourists in the video, saying its people like them that cause “Chinese people to lose face”.
Their actions were deemed as “disgusting” as well.
However, there are also people from the other side of the camp, lauding the Chinese woman who manhandled the swan as a heroine.
She could’ve just been trying to keep the swan from swallowing the paper, which could’ve been thought of as food by the swan.
Others just said that it could be the media’s latest attempt at smearing the Chinese people. After all, it ended pretty abruptly.
What do you think?
Here, you can watch the footage for yourself here:
But one thing’s for sure, though: you might not like Chinese tourists but they’re here to stay.
After all, like it or not, China is now a fast-developing economy with a huge amount of people. People who are now able to travel as they increase in affluence.
And when Chinese travellers threaten to boycott travels to your country, your government’s going to have a huge headache.
If you watch at least 10 minutes of brain rot content daily, you must know this:
