With shops like llao llao and Yole peppered around the country, most Singaporeans will be familiar with the concept of froyo (frozen yoghurt).
Dry yoghurt, however, may not be a concept we are as familiar with.
Bobo’s Fruit Bar is the first shop in Singapore to launch dry yoghurt – which is regular yoghurt strained over 48 hours, to produce a thicker, creamier texture.
Upon discovering viral dry yoghurt videos on Douyin, the owners of the shop were inspired to make their very own.
Each of Bobo’s Fruit Bar’s dry yoghurt bowl features fruits and granola to create a filling meal for customers who are craving something healthy and refreshing.
They have also come up with surprise designs to make their dry yoghurt bowls more memorable for customers to share with their family and friends:
Since introducing dry yoghurt to their menu less than a month ago, the shop has seen demand steadily grow among regulars and new customers.
Most people are drawn in by the eye-catching visuals of the yoghurt bowls, while others are intrigued to try dry yoghurt for the first time.
For those unfamiliar, dry yoghurt is similar to the texture of Greek yoghurt, and tastes similar to cream cheese.
Bobo’s Fruit Bar started out as a build-your-own yoghurt bar, selling flowy yoghurt bowls topped with fruits, crunch, and sauces.
These flowy yoghurt bowls are better known as 水果捞 in China, which rose to popularity about 2 years back.
As Singapore is mainly dominated by frozen yoghurt chains, the shop owners wanted to bring the flowy yogurt bowls to Singapore.
All of Bobo’s Fruit Bar’s yoghurt is made in-store over almost 24 hours, with no preservatives added.
It is featured in their yoghurt bowls, parfait, smoothies, and dry yoghurt bowls.
Their menu also includes waffles, which are freshly prepared in-store every day and can be topped with sauces like chocolate, peanut butter, or kaya, and fruits or savoury options like ham & cheese and egg mayo:
Apart from waffles, Bobo’s smoothies are prepared with yoghurt, fresh milk, and frozen bananas, with no ice added unlike most smoothies outside.
Currently, the shop can seat 8 people at one time, so it’s more suited for takeaways or food delivery.
