Everything can be resold.

Or at least, that appears to be the emboldened belief of the infamous ‘resellers’ of Singapore.

So lest you’re unaware, there exist scalpers looking to earn quick profits off pretty much everything, ranging from McDonald’s Hello Kitty and Gold Minion toys to pandemic-related face masks.

As long as it’s of possible monetary value, they reason, it can be resold.

And it appears that even vitamin D pills are unable to escape unscathed, as evident from a Carousel listing.

And yes, those are indeed pills from the recent Temasek Holding giveaway.

People Are Selling Free Vitamin D Pills By Temasek Foundation On Carousell

Two days ago, we learnt from a reader that there is a Carousell listing for Vitamin D pills.

Which wouldn’t exactly have been out of the ordinary had the pills not been the ones from the recent Temasek Holding giveaway.

“I chanced upon a listing on Carousell for the free vitamin D that Temasek Holding is giving away,” said the reader. “I find it really inconsiderate for people to do it.”

An image of the listing was attached. A bottle of Vitamin D pills is shown to be going for S$20.

A quick check reveals that the listing is currently still on the site.

And It’s Not The Only One Either

As apparently, at least one other listing has been found on the online marketplace.

And it appears that this particular retailer has not one, but 3 bottles in stock.

Temasek Holding

Lest you’re unaware, the philanthropic arm of Temasek Holdings, Temasek Foundation, previously announced that they will be distributing vitamin D supplements for free to low-income households over the next two weeks.

In total, over 100,000 bottles of D3 tablets are expected to be given out from 15 March to 28 March.

Created by the nutrition and health arm of German multinational BASF., each bottle contains 100 tablets – which should last the average adult for around two months.

The programme is part of Temasek Foundation’s Stay Prepared Covid-19 initiative – which seeks to assist people during the pandemic.

Singapore residents with “blue or orange Community Health Assist Scheme cards or public assistance recipients” can redeem a bottle at designated Guardian, Unity or Watsons pharmacies.

Vitamin D

A fat-soluble vitamin, Vitamin D helps to control the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, and facilitates regular immune system function.

Sufficient Vitamin D is important for the growth and development of bones and teeth, and increased resistance against particular diseases.

It has also been shown to combat diseases, reduce depression and aid in weight loss.

And gauging from this latest turn in development…

It’s fair to say that Vitamin D could help rake in a “quick profit” too.
