Wang Weiliang From “Ah Boys to Men” Started His Own Music School

Have you heard of the newest lobang in town yet?

We meant that literally.

Wang Weiliang, more commonly known as Lobang from Ah Boys to Men, just started a music school. Hopefully, they’re not just teaching army songs there.

Wang Weiliang Started Music School Called Seed Music

Wang Weiliang isn’t alone in his newest music venture—along with him are two of the Ah Boys, Joshua Tan and Bunz, who played the roles of Ken Chow and Sam Hui, respectively, in the Singapore military film franchise.

However, the team behind Seed Music is much bigger than just the three Ah Boys. While the team may have started the music school together, Seed Music was founded by Kenneth Shih, Ty Lua and Seah Jiaqing.

It’s the way everyone in the picture dresses in the Singapore uniform: the UNIQLO oversized tee. Perhaps that’s the staff uniform at Seed Music. We’re not sure whether that’s the student uniform, though.

Vocals, Guitar, Piano and Songwriting Classes Offered at Seed Music

According to Shin Min Daily News, Weiliang shared that Seed Music aims to help local music flourish, offering classes for vocals, guitar, piano and songwriting.

There’s something for everyone at the new music school

The syllabus for each course offered by the music school is detailed on their website.

For vocal, piano and guitar classes, you may opt for group or private coaching based on your preferences.

If you’re unsure whether to commit entirely to the classes (or if your kiasu parents want to “see how” first), you may also book a trial lesson with the music school.

Hopefully, the next JJ Lin will be born and bred under the care of our Ah Boys.

Sofa Sessions: Where the Wide-Eyed and the Experienced May Connect

Yet, one of the most exciting initiatives at Seed Music Singapore is their “Sofa Sessions”.

According to their website, their sofa area will be the spot for all musicians to connect, regardless of how experienced one is. These “Sofa Sessions” aim to create a collaborative environment where emerging local artists can work with experienced musicians.

Forget about Timbre+; this is the new place to be if you want to meet others who share your passion for music. This is what we call lobang.

Perhaps if you’re lucky enough, you’ll even meet some of your favourite artists. According to Shin Min Daily News, Weiliang’s new music school has already signed a contract to produce music for Taiwanese artists.

What’s Brewing: An Original Screenplay Including a Theme Song Produced By Seed Music

That’s not all that Weiliang has going for him.

He also shared that he is working on an original screenplay and expects to have the script out by 2024.

It is unclear what the screenplay is about. Maybe it’ll be about NS; perhaps it won’t. We’ll see.

However, what we do know is that the new music school will produce the theme song for Weiliang’s screenplay.

“No Pain, Yes Gain”

The motto at Seed Music deviates from the oft-repeated axiom “No Pain, No Gain”. Instead, it sounds a little more like something lobang himself would say in an Ah Boys film: “No Pain, Yes Gain”.

“We believe that learning should be a fun and enjoyable process, and that our students should feel supported and encouraged at every step of the way,” the music school stated on its website.
