It seems like even the God of Weather has got the memo from Lawrence Wong and gang.

In the first 15 days of February, which are also the CNY period, there would be more rainy days, so it’s best to stay home and Netflix instead of visiting your relatives.

According to the weatherman, more thundery showers can be expected in the first fortnight of February 2022, compared to the second fortnight of January 2022.

On the first few days (i.e. the days when most of us are visiting), a mass of dry air over the equatorial Southeast Asia region may bring stable atmospheric conditions and generally fair and warm weather over most parts of Singapore.

After that, the monsoon rain band is forecast to migrate closer to the Equator, which means thundery showers may be expected over parts of the island in the afternoon on most days with the showers extending into the evening on a few of these days.

On a few days, widespread moderate to heavy thundery showers induced by large-scale convergence of winds over Singapore and the surrounding region may also be expected.

Overall, the rainfall for the first half of February 2022 is forecast to be above-average over most parts of the island.

In other words, be prepared for…ponding.

While more showers are expected in the first fortnight of February, the daily maximum temperature could still reach a high of around 34 °C on a few days.

Sounds like another reason to stay home.

On most days, the daily temperature is forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C.

January 2022 Was So Hot, a Place Logged a Temperature of 35.4°C.

The minimum temperature of 22.5°C, recorded at Pasir Panjang on 20 January, was the lowest temperature recorded in January 2022.

If you’ve remembered, we started the year with multiple floods, and this is due to a high-pressure system over northern continental Asia brought a surge of moderate to strong northeast monsoon winds (monsoon surge ) over the equatorial South China Sea region.

The surge brought cool and wet weather over Singapore between 31 December 2021 and 2 January 2022.

On 2 January 2022, widespread and continuous moderate rain fell over the island between the pre-dawn hours and afternoon.

But after a wet start to the new year of 2022, it was dry and warm on most days with a few days of short-duration showers. There were also occasionally windy conditions on several days.

Most parts of the island recorded below-average rainfall in January 2022. The highest anomaly of 57% below-average was recorded at Simei. The rainfall recorded at Ang Mo Kio was 12% above-average.
