I‘ve often said this, and I’ll say this again:

“Road rage is applicable to anybody. Anybody.”

And to exemplify the notion, I present to you this Goody Feed-exclusive article (it’s actually not lah):

And so, sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy;

Because this sure as hell is gonna be a ‘wild ride’.

And it was all… yellow

Thoughtlessly stopped your car in a yellow box, in the process blocking off half of Singapore’s traffic?

Well, you might just get a Mercedes driver after your ass.

Indeed, that’s what happened to this Audi driver, who had ‘parked’ his car in a yellow box, amidst a particularly busy traffic junction. Having entered the ‘danger zone’, he then found himself at the mercy of an evidently enraged Mercedes driver, who promptly alighted to give the Audi driver a piece of his mind.

The incident occurred at a junction outside ION Orchard on 17 May, at around 6:30 p.m.

If you’re really curious to see it for yourself, rejoice; for it was all recorded down and subsequently posted to Facebook page Beh Chia Lor – Singapore Road. And despite having been posted for just one day, it has already garnered 73K views and over 500 shares.

You can view the video, titled ‘Man vs. Car, in a yellow box’ down below:

Rough Breakdown

Should you be unable to view the video for some inexplicable reason, however, here’s a rough breakdown of what happened in the video:

  • An Audi can be seen blocking off traffic after pausing in a yellow box at the crowded junction (FYI this is very common, as sometimes, the driver might not know the vehicle in front is stopping soon)
  • A man, dressed in a long-sleeved shirt, trousers and tie, stepped out of his Mercedes and proceeded to confront the Audi driver
  • Yes, he’s dressed in a long-sleeved shirt, trousers and tie. That’s why I say that road rage’s applicable to anybody. Even well-dressed Mercedes drivers.
  • We can’t hear the conversation because the video’s accompanied by a strangely fitting slow, chill soundtrack, but we’re guessing that the actual conversation was nowhere near being so ‘chill’, because…
  • The Mercedes driver can be seen shouting and gesturing angrily at the other party. Pretty sure he’s not going ‘Hey, handsome, wanna hop on my disco stick’ or something
  • Also, he punches and kicks the Audi. Definitely not because the other party refused to hop on his disco stick
  • At one juncture, the Mercedes driver hits the Audi’s side mirror, which the Audi driver then re-adjusts (haha)
  • The Mercedes driver then returns to his vehicle, and the Audi driver vacates the yellow box
  • It has to be mentioned that halfway through the video, the Mercedes driver actually went back to his car and opened the door, but promptly went back to hitting on the Audi driver thereafter. We suspect that the Audi driver had yelled something the other party didn’t like, which caused the verbal brawl to continue. But of course, it’s all speculation so please don’t take my word for it.

“Ever been so angry about a yellow-box hogger that you tried beating up his car? This guy has,” said a caption accompanying the Facebook video. The page also added that the “real villain” here was neither party, but the traffic junction.

Netizens react

After the revelation, Netizens quickly jumped on board to point fingers. And while one would’ve expected wagging fingers to be waved in front of the Audi driver’s face, you might be surprised to know that the Mercs driver has some planted up his nose too.

Here, you can take a look here:

‘The Mercs driver isn’t exactly wrong-free’ faction:

But of course, we couldn’t possibly miss out on the classic ‘Witty Netizen’ comments.

Well, that’s strangely fitting.

Who’s right, and who’s wrong?

As a Goody Feed writer, I’m supposed to stay impartial at all times, and so I’m designating the call to you. Do you think that the Mercs driver is at fault here, or is it the clearly-in-the-wrong Audi driver at fault here? I’ll leave it for you to decide.

And since we’re on the topic, here’s a classic example of ‘road rage’ to end off this article.

Splendidly apt, even if the actual context isn’t quite the same.

Please watch from 0:32 onwards, though the introduction’s pretty interesting too.

And with that, good day. 🙂
