When I was told you could bold, italicise or strikethrough your words in WhatsApp, I was excited.
Until the functions became live in WhatsApp, that is.
Because what good are the different functions if it’s so damn hard to use?

Currently, you had to “code” the words yourself
To Bold, you simply add * before and after what you want to bold. For example, *I am a boy* will become I am a boy.
To italicise, you simply add _ before and after what you want to italicise. For example, _I am a boy_ will become I am a boy.
And to strikethrough, simply add ~ before and after what you want to strikethrough. For example, ~I am a boy ~ will become I am a boy.
Sounds simple enough, but I can’t remember it. At times.
Apparently, Whatsapp knows that as well and decide to do something about it.
Whatsapp new update will make it easier to bold/italicise/strikethrough your words
Whatsapp has recently added this function to the beta version of their application where you can easily bold, italicise or strikethrough your words.
All with the press of a button or two. No more remembering codes!
Simply type what you want, highlight the word(s) you want to change and tap the three dots icon at the top right-hand corner of the toolbar.

And voila! Select the style you want.
The function is currently available in the beta version of Whatsapp and they’re expected to release this function globally when Whatsapp next update the application, ver. 2.17.146.
