Anna Goh Li Bing, 39, collected about S$10,163 to buy eggs for Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens, but spent the donations on holidays and her husband’s business.
She was sentenced to two weeks’ jail on 12 October 2026 after pleading guilty. A separate forgery charge was considered during sentencing.
Donations Collected Through Facebook
Goh began seeking donations on Facebook on 3 October 2023, claiming eggs would cost S$2 per tray. By 10 November that year, 134 people had contributed.
She also forged a letter claiming the home had received 850 trays of eggs.
Suspicious donors contacted the home and learnt it had received none. They subsequently made police reports.
About S$8,940 Still Unrecovered
After police became involved, Goh delivered 4,500 eggs worth S$922.50 to the home between November 2023 and March 2026. She also transferred S$300 in May 2026.
However, S$8,940.50 remained unrecovered.
Lianhe Zaobao reported that her lawyer sought three days’ jail, citing her clean record and early guilty plea. The judge rejected that request, saying it did not adequately reflect the seriousness of deceiving 134 people.
