It’s not easy being a bus captain these days.
In addition to driving long hours to bring us to our desired location, they have to argue with bare-faced passengers who are outraged when told to put on a mask.
Instances of abuse have been on the rise lately, all because they’re trying to do their job well.
While many of us do appreciate the work of these bus captains, one woman went out of her way to actually show it.
And it came in the rather tasty form of beancurd.
Woman Bought 30 Bowls of Beancurd for Bus Captains in Appreciation of Their Work
A bus captain took to social media to thank a woman for her touching gesture of appreciation.
The man recounted the incident in a Facebook post on 21 April.
According to the post, the man had gone to the Lao Ban Soya Beancurd stall at Serangoon bus interchange to buy some soya milk drinks.
While he was waiting for his order, he met a woman in white who purchased 30 bowls of beancurd.
Now I know what you’re thinking: 30 bowls? Just enough for two days, right? So, what was this woman doing buying them all in one day?
Well, it turns out that the woman was purchasing the beancurd for all the bus captains at the interchange.
The lady in white also offered to pay for the man’s drinks, and the man must have wondered if an angel had descended from heaven and just happened to have lots of cash.
The man asked the woman if she was an SBS staff member, but she said she was merely a regular passenger of bus service 315 who wanted to show her gratitude for bus captains.
One tub of original beancurd costs around S$1.70, which means the woman would have spent more than S$50 in total.
This is so sweet I might have to avoid my daily 15 tubs of beancurd today.
72YO Bus Captain Uses Umbrella to Shelter Passengers at Every Bus Stop When It’s Raining
If your heart is warm and you want it to melt, here’s another touching story about a bus captain.
This is Senior Bus Captain (BC) Hoe Soo Hiong.
For the past 45 years, Hoe has been ferrying commuters around the country to their destination, rain or shine.
While there are many long-serving bus captains, Hoe has a certain trait that sets her apart: her compassion.
See, whenever it rains, Hoe will quickly take out an umbrella to shelter commuters who are boarding or alighting from her bus.
