Yet not everyone follows what we’re told to do.

Woman Charged for Leaving House 6 Times to Meet 9 Men During Circuit Breaker Period

On 9 June, a lady in Singapore was charged in court for leaving her home for non-essential business and meeting other people for a social purpose.

37-year-old Letchmi was charged with 12 counts of breaking Covid-19 regulations.

Between 11 Apr and 21 May, she left her home six times over 5 days.

On one occasion, she allegedly met with up to four men.

On another occasion, she met with two men to drink alcohol at a void deck.

Another time, she met with three men at the corridor and staircase landing outside her home.

She had also allegedly met with a person named Logeswaran Rajagopal several times as well.

The final time was at 11.37pm on 21 May where she allegedly met Logeswaran and Ravindran at the open area between blocks 505 and 507 at Ang Mo Kio Ave 8.

She is scheduled to plead guilty in court on 7 Jul 2020.

One Of The Men Charged 12 Counts Too

One of the men she met, Ravindran, is also charged for 12 counts of breaking Covid-19 regulations.

He was charged with leaving his home six times on six days.

It wasn’t stated who he had met while he went out during the Circuit Breaker period.

Ravindran will return to court to plead guilty on 30 Jun 2020.

Each of them faces up to six months’ jail, a $10,000 fine, or both for each charge.

Circuit Breaker Might Be Over But We Still Cannot Socialise

Now, you’re thinking, we’re finally out of Circuit Breaker. Time to meet with my girlfriend liao.

We might be in Phase One now but socialising is still a big no-no.

With half of Singapore’s Covid-19 patients being asymptomatic cases and the risk of asymptomatic transmission, the authorities are not taking any chances when it comes to reopening the economy.

As for why Singaporeans can take crowded public transport but not meet up with friends during Phase One?

It’s because the risk is lower.

For public transport, you don’t talk, the journey is shorter and the trains and buses are cleaned regularly.

When you meet with friends, however, you’ll talk, interact and definitely spend more time together.

Mr Lawrence Wong added that based on cases in Singapore and overseas, a “vast majority” of Covid-19 cases are spread via social interaction and gathering.

However, hang in there because according to the authorities, when we enter phase two, social gatherings might be permitted, limited to five people.
