For ages, elderly individuals have been characterised as frail, vulnerable and even gullible. In need of reference? Just look up local scam cases.
But the fact remains that not every elderly individual obeys the same stereotypes. Nope. Rather, some might be even more quick-thinking than the average lad…
Like the following grandma, who could potentially give a crime investigator a run for their money.

Woman Marks Her Money to Prove That Her Maid was Stealing From Her
At 91 years of age, Wang Caijuan is not exactly youthful. And as she was living alone, she required help to get by at home.
Thus, the hiring of a maid.
However, Wang is not physically weak by any means. She also holds on to a significant portion of her mental capabilities…
A notion that would prove to be the undoing of the maid’s evil… doings.
Wang’s suspicions first began upon the realisation that every time she tasked her maid to buy something, the money she received will be lesser than expected.
In addition, Wang’s wallet would become emptier for no apparent reason.
Unable to form a conclusion, she then held a discussion with her child, after which she decided to mark numbers on four 10 dollar bills.
And right before she headed out, she left her bag in a designated place.

Unearthed
After she returned, she realised that her bag had been shifted.
Wang then asked the maid to surrender all her cash and realised that there was a marked note within the latter’s possession.
Well, the game’s up.
Apparently, the maid tried to feign innocence at the start, proclaiming that she had picked up the money note in the morning while sweeping the floor, and had not managed to return it in time.
The ruse eventually caved in, however, when she was accused of not doing it for the first time.

Admitting to stealing money several times, the maid was eventually confronted with an ultimatum: to be handed to the police or to be deported back home.
Wang’s family decided to go with the latter.
The maid then reportedly bought a plane ticket to return home by herself.
As for the reason behind the disclosure of the incident, Wang’s son stated that he saw similar news in the papers, and wanted to warn other employers of such incidents.

Unfortunately, Wang’s ex-maid isn’t the only one with itchy fingers.

A few years back, a family was shocked to find out that their maid had borrowed money from licensed and unlicensed moneylenders with their details.
It later turned out that the maid had over S$2,100 in outstanding debt from both licensed and unlicensed moneylenders, as well as 5 separate instalment payments.
Apparently, she had splurged on mobile phones and jewellery.
