Those of us brought up in an Asian family have confirm-plus-chop heard of the things that a “Tiger Moms” does.
Be it from personal experience (ouch) , or a friend’s, “Tiger Moms” and their out-of-the-world teaching methods are surely incomparable.
Let me put it out first: I have nothing against strict teachings, it is all about parents’ love for their kids anyways.
But things start to get a little tricky when they go overboard with this right to educate…
And here’s a good example:
In the video above, the mother was seen riding a scooter while dragging her son behind her on the ground.
His hands were tied together by a rope that’s attached to the scooter.
The boy was (obviously) crying in pain.
A voice was heard off-camera, commenting that even a stepmother would not do this to a child, let alone his biological mother.
A woman who drove past them at that point in time attempted to advise her against doing so, but it was to no avail.
This incident happened in the Yunan province of China.
According to The Epoch Times, Ludian Police released a statement saying 2,000 yuan (S$417) was reported to be missing from a residence.
The 10-year-old boy has confessed to be the culprit.
According to the police, the mother tried to teach the boy about what he has done wrong, but he didn’t learn, hence pushing her to do it the harsh way.
An investigation has been carried out by the Ludian Police upon knowing about the situation.
Both the mother and the son has learnt their mistake.
Meanwhile, the boy did not suffer any injuries from the incident.
Thoughts
Like I said, nothing wrong with trying to educate your child.
But think about it, will you be able to learn if it was you?
What the boy saw was a ruthless mother who was hurting him and putting his life in danger.
Not one who is trying to teach him the proper ways.
I just hope that all parents can learn from this incident.
