I‘m sure we have all dreamt of winning the lottery at some point in time in our lives. It doesn’t hurt to have more cash with us, right? We will be able to buy anything and everything we want.
Except, we have forgotten that money can’t buy love.
Britain’s Youngest Euromillions Regrets Winning Lottery
Britain’s youngest Euromillions winner, Jane Park, was only 17 when she scooped £1million (about SGD$1.5 million) with her first-ever ticket. She has decided that her windfall has ruined her life and is considering legal action against lottery bosses for negligence. What’s even more surprising was that she claims someone her age shouldn’t have been allowed to win.
In a breath-taking whinge about her jackpot, Jane, now 21, says the money has made her life ten times worse. She has told the Sunday People that she is sick of shopping for designer goods and burdened with the “stress” of being a millionairess (?!?!?!).
While the win was supposed to make her life better, it made it worse. Even though she has everything that she wants, her life still felt meaningless. Even her 18-month relationship with a local lad ended in a bitter row last year, leaving her heartbroken. She constantly showered him with gifts, thinking that it would make him happy. I guess money really can’t buy happiness, can it?
Background
Back in 2013, Jane was working as an admin temp for £8 (about SGD$12) an hour and living with her mum Linda in a two-bedroom flat on an Edinburgh council estate. Four years on she feels she never really understood what difference the money would make to her life.
Now, if she says that she’d pay for the travel insurance for a young boy who was sick to go Florida, her act would be deemed as a publicity. She feels “stressed” that there is no one in the same boat as her, nor anyone who understands how she feels. When her friends stress about money, it is over their wages and not the type of problems that she faces.
But has she ever thought of just getting rid of her winnings to relieve herself of the burden? Well… I wouldn’t mind helping to relieve her burden. She will be able to find a partner who genuinely wants to be with her instead of her money then! Isn’t that great?
