Ever encountered leaking walls, pipes and smelly chutes in your housing estate that never seems to get fixed?
Well, if you were loud and vocal influencer with over 599k followers, that would have been different. Pink hair is optional.
“See? Wasn’t so hard was it?”
Popular blogger and Instagram influencer Wendy Cheng, also known as her online persona, XiaXue, posted complaints to her platform about her run-down estate.
On her Instagram stories, she posted images of broken concrete floors and ceilings with large holes at her void deck. Xia Xue complained about the “destitute state” of her neighbourhood and soon after, it was fixed.
She complained of leaking ceilings and some have even completely fallen through. It must be exciting living there with the possibility of getting killed by falling concrete. Every day is different.
On top of that, the area is infested with rats and pests. Luckily for XiaXue, she said she has a “killer stray cat” in the vicinity to rid the area of vermin.
The stories are uploaded and pinned onto her highlights called Aljunied which can be found in her bio. She claims to have complained multiple times and even personally e-mailed the party caring for her area, Aljunied.
Yes, we’re talking about the Workers’ Party.
Maybe it takes some publicising to get things done around here.
Love-Hate Relationship
After her long online rant, many netizens came forward to in her Direct Messages to share their similar experiences and housing estate with those problems.
Netizens took to the platform to also share images of their buildings and how poorly maintained it was. Many of them, including Xia Xue, was upset at a political party’s efficiency in caring for neighbourhoods.
However, some were just sending an endless stream of hate. She posted their personal messages to her and most were insulting the type of housing she lives in and the run-down and dirty state. One even said that this year’s Halloween Horror Nights can be held at her void decks and housing estate.
Her inbox was filled to the brim with harsh and vulgar attacks about her attitude toward the situation.
Nevertheless, she maintained her famously unapologetic stance and tackled the hate head-on.
