In the last few days, there has been a series of fatal accidents that shook Singapore.
On 19 April (Thursday), a horrific crash occurred at the junction of Clementi Road and Commonwealth Avenue West at about 7:30 p.m., killing a 19-year-old student and leaving one still in serious injury.
Yesterday (Sunday) morning at 1:00 a.m., a Mercedes car hit an SMRT bus at the junction of Jalan Anak Bukit and Jalan Jurong Kechil. A 23-year-old female passenger died in the accident.
This morning, at about 9:30 a.m., another fatal accident happened, this time claiming three lives.
According to reports, a lorry just zoomed across the junction of Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 and the road that leads to Yio Chu Kang MRT Station.
The driver, according to Straits Time’s understanding, is a 25-year-old Singaporean. He was conscious when he was being sent to the hospital, but has been arrested for causing death by a negligent act, and investigations are ongoing.
Channel NewsAsia reported that they called the company of the lorry, and a man claimed that it was his son driving the lorry. His vision had allegedly gone “blurry and he couldn’t see anything before the accident happen”.
Three pedestrians who were waiting for the traffic lights were hit and two of them were pinned under the lorry. All three of them were killed.
The lorry also hit a stationary SBS Transit bus. The right side of the bus is shattered but no one is injured.
The accident also toppled a traffic light and crushed the drain railings nearby.
