It’s one thing to commit a mistake.
It’s quite another to commit a mistake and make up for it.
While the latter’s definitely an improvement, admirable even, the fact remains that a mistake had been made in the first place. And sometimes, making up for it just doesn’t work…
As this youth came to find out.
On 30 Nov, two youths allegedly stole diesel fuel from a lorry in Jurong Road Heavy Vehicle Park, in the area of Bukit Batok. And when they were captured on camera, one reportedly reached out to the victim and offered compensation.
Though it seems that it’s too late for amendments.
What happened?
On 8 Dec, Facebook user Jason Tan posted a series of videos on his page, alongside the caption:
“To this driver of a white van, you come to my lorry and steal diesel and now u got ur friends into trouble, nowadays camera a lot don’t do stupid thing.”
Apparently, the perpetrators, a pair of youths, had taken about 40 minutes to acquire the diesel using a pump. They also destroyed a surveillance camera on the afflicted lorry.
What they didn’t realise, however, is that the lorry is just one of sixteen that a construction company uses to transport soil.
And that each of the lorries was installed with four surveillance cameras.
So Metal Gear Solid.
You can watch the incriminating evidence below:

Compensation
After a police report was lodged, Facebook user Jason Tan received a message from one of the alleged thieves in question. Thereafter, he proceeded to post the message on his social media feed.
If you’re trying to guess Jason’s reply, well, according to his Facebook post… Jason entertained the request with one simple sentence:
“Bro, you must be a joker.”
Well, guess negotiations didn’t work out then.
A history
It seems that this isn’t the first time a company lorry has been broken into. Many years ago, one of the lorry’s windows had apparently been smashed in by a thief, which led to the loss of about $600 worth of property.

Incidentally, this was what led to the installation of four cameras for each side of all 16 lorries.
“I spent over $20,000 on the cameras, in case I needed evidence for anything. In this incident, they have come in extremely handy.”
Well, they could get back $100 from the $20,000 investment #justsaying
Netizens React
Following the revelation, Netizens responded with their own opinions.
And suffice it to say that it wasn’t favourable towards the youths.
Yep, Netizens have no chill about this kind of stuff alright.

Moral of the story
In the end, I can only express one thing:
Don’t do drugs.
And don’t do diesel.
Because at the end of the line…
It might be a mistake that you might never be able to retract.

And I haven’t even talked about forking over $100.
But here’s a question: do youths nowadays just go, “Okay I make a mistake, nah here’s the compensation, sorry, kthxbye”?
If so, our world is doomed.
