As any hyperactive kid would attest to, just staying still for 10 minutes is a feat in itself…
Let alone sitting still and doing nothing for a whole 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Yet, incredible as it may seem, the aforementioned has been achieved…
And was actually documented on video-sharing site Youtube for all to see.
Now, the question surely begets. Though sitting still and doing nothing for so long is undeniably an achievement in itself…
One can’t help but wonder; is it ever going to attract an actual audience?
Well, as it turns out… there is an audience. And apparently…
It’s actually pretty sizeable.
Man Posted YT Video of Himself Doing Nothing & Staring into Your Soul for 2 Hours; Got 1.2 Million Views in 14 Days
On 10 July 2020, YouTuber Didit, who operates the channel “sobat miskin official” (“official poor friend” in Bahasa Indonesia), posted a 2 hour 20 min long video clip wherein he does nothing but stares into your soul. For the entirety of the video.
Titled “2 JAM Nggak ngapa-ngapain” (loosely translated to “2 HOURS of doing nothing”), it has since gone on to become a viral hit, collecting over 1.2 million views and 50K likes.
It has also become a meme within the social media industry in Indonesia. So much so that the YouTuber’s subscriber count has actually rocketed to 23.3K in the space of mere weeks!
You can watch the video down below:
Incidentally, Netizens have lauded the Youtuber’s unconventional method of garnering followers.
With some labelling him a ‘genius’.
Well, if I may…
I would say that it definitely made sense. In a way.
13 One Reason Why
Now, you might be wondering;
Why on earth would someone make such a video in a time when everyone’s obsessed with productivity and whatnot?
Well, here’s the Youtuber’s clarification on why. You can view it in the screenshot down below:
And here’s a loose translation of what the wall of text entails:
“2 HOURS of doing nothing, yes that is the title of my video this time. Ok, maybe I should share a little bit why this video was made. It all started from the Indonesian society urging me lately to create content that educates the youth – finally with a heavy heart and reluctantly, I did. BOOM, thus the creation of this video but if we were to talk about its benefits, it all depends on you, the viewers to filter, and that is my only advice to all of you. I hope that you will be entertained and benefit from this video.”
Yes folks, it seems that Youtuber Didit is both a genius and a philosopher. Because let’s face it;
Nobody can understand what philosophers are saying.
And so with that in mind, I shall proceed to decipher the hidden beneficial meaning of the video. I’ve an inkling that it might be the eyes. Meanwhile, stay safe, stay healthy…
And I’ll see you on the other side of the philosophical bank.
Or you can watch our YouTube channel. We’re now planning to get one of us to stare into the camera for 3 hours once we find a camera that has such long-last batteries. In the meantime, just watch this lah:
