I believe everyone should do something memorable at least once in their lifetime cos YOLO.
But when I say ‘memorable’ I was thinking along the lines of bungee jumping, skydiving, going on a road trip for a month…
There are so many crazy ideas out there but some people decided to take YOLO very literally.
According to The Guardian, Jay Swingler from the YouTube channel TGFbro decided to cement his head into a microwave and nearly staged his own death.
Here’s the video:
Jay and his group of friends had originally wanted to use the microwave as a mould. They filled it with Polyfilla, a plaster, and had Jay put a plastic bag on his head before sticking it in.
They then blow dry the mixture using a hairdryer.
Wrong move.
Things went horribly wrong when his head was stuck in the microwave. Jay couldn’t breathe when he stood up and said that his airway was blocked.
He thought he was gonna die.
His friends made an airway for him to breathe and tried to pry the solid mixture open.
After trying for 90 minutes, they decided to call the emergency service.
And the 5 firefighters were ‘seriously unimpressed’, according to the official Twitter account of the West Midlands Fire Department.
Shaun Dakin, the officer in charge of the response team said: “We video-called our technical rescue colleagues for advice and eventually managed to get him unstuck.
“He was very relieved when we removed a large chunk of the Polyfilla with a screwdriver, allowing him to breathe more easily. But we had to be extremely careful with the screwdriver, working so closely to his head.”
The group spent an hour to save Jay, who said: “I’ve never appreciated life so much”.
The Department also issued a video statement to address the issue, which totally shows how annoyed they are.
If my job was to save lives and ensure the safety of others, I would be totally pissed at these pranksters too.
At least now we know that the Polyfilla is of good quality…
