Keeping fit doesn’t have to cost a bomb every month. Now, let’s face it, not everyone needs the frills a commercial atas gym offers, especially for men.

If all you want is a gym that is conveniently located and has a good set of free weights and machines, this list has you covered.

Plus, you won’t be shedding tears whenever you pay the monthly fee at these places. Instead, you’ll be shedding fats (that is, if you’re not the type who sign up for a gym membership and then go MIA lah).

Anytime Fitness

With more than 38 gyms (it was only 15 in 2015!) located islandwide, you probably think that this is the gym that provides the most convenience for members. But did you know that each one is also open 24/7?

If you’re feeling restless after a long day of work or school, squeeze in a quick, late-night workout. Although prices are much lower than commercial gyms, do free to negotiate for a monthly fee that you’re comfortable paying for anyway.

And here’s a tip: go at 3:00 a.m. It’s usually empty, and you’ll have the whole gym to yourself.

Gymmboxx

There are seven Gymmboxx gyms across Singapore and they are split into the Gymmboxx Standard or Gymmboxx Silver categories. If you don’t feel like committing to a membership just yet, you can opt to pay per-entry. Prices are clearly listed on the Gymmboxx website.

Although you are unable to negotiate, the transparent pricing will leave you with no worries. In fact, isn’t a fixed price better than one whereby the price depends on how well you can talk?

ActiveSG

Previously known as ClubFITT, ActiveSG gyms offer a low-cost alternative to your usual commercial gyms with prices as low as $2.50 per entry for adults and $1.50 for students, and that hasn’t changed for years.

However, this doesn’t mean that you get cheap and rusty equipment and air-conditioning that’s not working. Opting to sign up for a monthly programme means that you pay less than a dollar a visit if you’re a real gym rat.

Dennis Gym

As the name suggests, the gym’s founder is indeed a Dennis, Dennis Tew to be exact. He is a former Singapore Bodybuilding Federation coach and the gym is aptly focused on personal training. If you’re unwilling to pay for personal training for a high cost at a commercial gym chain, Dennis Gym is the next best option.

Your school, camp or workplace gym

Whether you’re in secondary school or a tertiary institution, or serving your NS, there’s usually a gym there, and while the opening hours might not suit you, a little change in your schedule would usually allow you to visit it at least once a week.  The cost? $0. The issue isn’t about the gym, but you.

Since you’re here, why not watch a video about a guy who lodged a Police report here in Singapore because he was friendzoned? Seriously. Here, watch it and do remember to share it (and also subscribe to Goody Feed YouTube channel)!
