SIA is engaging more cabin crew. Here’s what all aspiring SIA Girls should know

When I saw the article on the ST Facebook Page, I got super excited. After all, it was my dream to work as an SQ stewardess since I was a young girl. Looking at their blue kebayas and red lipstick, it was like meeting my idol. I’ve been aspiring to join the team because I love to travel and I love chatting with people (working in F&B taught me that). And now the good news it, SIA is planning to hire more cabin crews! Woohoo!

Usually, SIA hires about 1000 cabin crew members a year. This year, they’re planning to expand the size and exceed the 1000 members. This is being done to support growth as their business is slowing down.

Also, the SIA usually hires cabin crews to replace the old timers who have left. This year, they will be doing the same AND increasing their family size. So, you girls out there, you’ll have more chances of being a stewardess for SQ.

However, the performance of each cabin crew will definitely be monitored. So you may have more chances of getting in, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be kicked out either. After all, it isn’t easy being a SIA girl. You can read our article about how hard it is to be an SIA girl here.

For current SIA girls, there have also been changed to extension periods. The number of years you are allowed to fly will be based on merit and there is only a fixed number of times you can extend your contract.
