If you’re like me who not only know who 梁细妹 is, but could even recite some of his her trademark phrases, then this news could make you apehit.

Our favourite iconic 梁细妹, once again portrayed by Jack Neo, is back, this time with a twist. Unlike the 梁细妹 in the 90s and early 2000s, 梁细妹 won’t be a skit in the last fifteen minutes of 搞笑行动on Monday night; instead, it will be a noon show catered to the elderly.

Since this year, the authorities have allowed a time-belt between Friday 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m for dialect programmes in free-to-air TV, primarily so that they can reach out to the elderly who could only understand dialects. The first was 吃饱没?, and it was really a hit, not only because of the Hokkien and Cantonese used, but its jokes.

The new 梁细妹 will also include Chinese dialects—and I’m sure with that, it’ll be funnier.

The first episode will be on 2 December 2016, 12:00 p.m. on Channel 8, and will be aired every Friday on the same time. Yeah, I know some 梁细妹 fans will go, “Aiyo, 真的是伤脑筋啊, working or studying leh, how?”

Well, do it the 梁细妹 era style then: record it. Or maybe it’ll be in Toggle, who knows?
