Mention Bali, and most people would think that it’s a place for you to lounge around on the beaches and relax. Most people will only associate holiday resorts and short vacations with the Indonesian island, but they will never think of exploring it. In fact, Bali is more than a resort destination. There are also several attractions that will open your minds and horizons if you bother to explore!
Ubud Monkey Forest
This is a nature reserve that also houses three Hindu temples inside. Monkeys can be fed with bananas that are provided, and they are so friendly that they almost border on aggressiveness!
Ubud Royal Palaces
It may be hard to believe, but members of the Ubud royalty have opened up some parts of their palaces to the public to explore or even stay in. If you want to become royalty for a day, this is definitely the place to make your dream come true.
Bali Safari & Marine Park
At the park, you can ride on elephants or even dine with wild animals such as the Sumatran tiger, lions and meerkats. It’s like landing right in the movie Madagascar!
Museum Puri Lukisan
This museum houses both traditional and contemporary Balinese artworks. If you want to learn more about Balinese mythology and culture, this is the place to go.
Tanah Lot
This is a very scenic rock formation off the coast of Bali, with a temple built atop the rock. The name means Land in the Sea – a very whimsical yet fitting name.
Uluwatu Temple
This is one of the main temples in Bali, and possible the most beautiful. It is perched on top of a steep cliff that is next to the sea, featuring very scenic views and peaceful surroundings.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana
This is a culture park with towering stone statues dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu and his mythical companion, the bird Garuda. Being only 15 minutes drive away from the airport, it makes for a great short day trip.

Mount Batur
Avid hikers and sportspeople may find a hike to the top of this active volcano an exciting experience. The sunrise from the top of the mountain is also very scenic.
