Restoran Mana Lagi
For many die-hard fans, this is THE BEST place for a plate of nasi lemak. Their top hits are the fried chicken and beef rendang. A plate of your basic nasi lemak will set you back by RM2.50 at most.
They only close on Fridays, and are open otherwise from 6pm to midnight.
Address: 569 Jalan Persisiran Perling 1, Taman Perling, JB
Hai Wan Restaurant
There’s a nasi lemak stall here that serves a unique green nasi lemak. I’m guessing it’s from pandan essence. It goes well with a side plate of chicken rendang. Their sambal is up with the rest of the greats.
Only open from 7am to 1pm daily.
Address: 2 Jalan Indah 16/7, Bukit Indah, JB
Restoran Malam Indah Selalu
A RM4.50 pack consists of a piece of fried chicken, some veg, a fried egg and a keropok with the usual nasi lemak fare. That’s a pretty darned good deal!
The shop opens from 5.30pm until midnight. They close on Wednesdays.
Address: Kampung Senibong, Permas Jaya (near AEON)
Sambal House
This is not a roadside stall, but it doesn’t mean that the food here is expensive either. Try out the squid sambal with your nasi lemak for a change.
Open daily from 11am onwards to 7pm
Address: 34 Jalan Suria 18, Taman Suria, 81100 JB
Nasi Lemak Anggerik
Give a fried selar kuning a try (it’s a fish btw) with a dollop of their thick sambal paste. They’re open daily from 5.30pm to 11pm.
Address: Right next to the Al-Rajhi Bank in Taman Molek
Nasi Lemak Wak Kentut
Don’t be fooled by the dodgy name. The ayam goreng berempah is made with a special spice mix, and they make the best nasi lemak kukus I’ve tried in JB.
They are closed on Sundays and operate from 6pm til late.
Address: Jalan Susur Kulai 2, Taman Kulai Besar, Kulai, Johor
Warung Zai Nasi Lemak Low Piak
The fried chicken thigh delivered by Kak Zai is one of a kind. And we all love our fried chicken and nasi lemak, don’t we? The price is dope, too.
Closed on Tuesdays. They open from 7am to 12.30pm.
Address: Taman Nira, Batu Pahat, 83000 Johor
Nasi Lemak “U”
The sambal isn’t too spicy here, and they’re constantly frying batches of chicken, which is a good thing as it flies off of the racks. A meal for two with drinks will set you back by less than RM15.
The shop is closed on Saturdays and otherwise operates between 7pm-11pm.
Address: SPACE UTM Junction
Nasi Lemak Al Aisy
Take your pick on side dishes here – sambal kangkung, fried chicken legs, and even some other fried beef organs. A pack of nasi lemak with fried chicken is around RM5.
The stall is open daily from 5pm -10pm
Address: Jalan Indah 16/5, Bukit Indah, JB (next to AmBank)
Old Town White Coffee
This franchise actually carries a plate of nasi lemak that is pretty decent, and priced cheaply too. As it’s located in a shopping mall, it’s open daily from 10am -10pm.
