If you’re a 90’s kid, you’ll remember Apple Hong, the former queen of Channel 8.
This beautiful former Ch 8 actress, who doesn’t look a day past 30 despite turning 39 this year, recently got married to her long-time boyfriend. And we figure that it’s high time for you guys to know what she’s been up to!
When was their marriage?
According to The Straits Times, she said in an interview: “I accidentally got married, I am already a wife.”
I have no idea how someone could accidentally get married, but the world takes new turns every day.
While Apple declined to reveal the exact specifics, she disclosed that they held a wedding banquet in Kuala Lumpur on 30 Sep. They registered their marriage more than a week later, on Oct 10.
Who’s Apple Hong’s Husband?
Apple did not reveal her husband’s name or age, as he keeps a very low profile.
However, she did mention that he’s Singaporean, and functions as a businessman.
Hmmm, mysterious.
How did they meet?
They encountered each other at a work event and dated for 10 years before they got married.
Be right back; I’ve got a work event to attend to.
Her boyfriend proposed long ago
They might have registered their marriage on Oct 10 this year, but they were actually engaged way back in 2015.
In fact, the engagement’s the reason why she returned to Singapore in 2015.
Was it a grand wedding?
Contrary to what we expected, it was apparently a really small wedding.
They invited around 50-60 guests consisting of family and friends and held a simple banquet in Malaysia.
Any baby plans?
In an exclusive interview with 8 Days, Apple Hong was faced with the question every newly-wed wife would undoubtedly go through.
Are you planning to have kids soon?
“If we ‘accidentally’ have a kid, then we will have one. I’m not going to deliberately plan for one,” Apple laughed. “I remember Mark Lee told me that the harder you try, the more difficult it is to see results ‘cos it can be very stressful. But if you don’t try too hard, sometimes it just happens!”
Wise words, Apple!
So what has she been up to these past few years? Let’s find out!
She left Mediacorp in 2011
In 2011, Apple left Mediacorp to pursue an acting career in China.
She only returned four years later, in 2015.
She’s been dabbing in the radio trade
If you’re an avid listener of JiaFM88.3 radio station, you might have noticed a familiar voice.
If you did, your speculations weren’t wrong as Apple’s been part-timing as a DJ on the station!
Nothing like a woman who can act and speak fluently!
It would suck to be her hubby when they get into a fight though: it would be a tough task to win.
Her last Channel 8 drama was one year ago
Not that long ago, isn’t it?
In 2016, Apple had acted alongside Jesseca Liu, Jayley Woo, Vivian Lai and Priscelia Chan for the local channel 8 drama The Queen.
The drama is a sleek take on an otherwise stale plot: five women band together to form the ‘Revenge Queen’, an organization that seeks vengeance on straying men.
Erm…okay.
She has a Chinese play coming up
Apple will be starring in an upcoming Chinese play called Sole Mate.
The play, which also stars local voice talents Lorraine Tan and Tay Sia Yuen, as well as new actor Brian Ng, will depict the story of three married women and the different problems they face in life.
Apple Hong plays Margaret, a housewife and mother-of-three whose marriage has become stale over the years.
“The role is very different from who I am in real life,” she told The Straits Times. “Margaret got married in her 20s, and spent her life taking care of her children and family. She didn’t get a chance to pursue her dreams and is left thinking of the ‘what ifs’.”
Interesting! I’ll be sure to catch it! *hint boss hint*
Anyway, we wish you a blissful marriage, Apple, and all the best for your future ventures!
Oh, and may the descendants start rolling in like money!
Because there’s never enough money in this world. #truth
