Here are 10 fun facts you have to know about the MRT line that’s just across the Causeway.

Where It Runs

The MRT line runs between Sungai Buloh and Kajang, which is almost an hour’s away from KL city. The good thing, though, is that it shows you a different side of Malaysia, with more fun places like Kota Damansara and Bandar Utama becoming more accessible to commuters.

It also links you to Maluri, KL Sentral and Pasar Seni for interchanging stations.

Bonus point – No need to pay extra for your personalized ride via Uber/taxi.

About the Trains

The train comes with four cars, which can shuttle up to 1,200 passengers at any given time. Based on the number of rides in a day, they’re looking at a figure of 400,000 passengers daily.

Payment can only be made using cash or Touch ‘n Go cards (similar to EZ Link).

Imagine going on an MRT ride that costs from RM1 – RM6.40 at most. If we were to ride, it’ll cost less just slightly more than two dollars for a full line ride. Yowza!

Park and Ride – What?

Yes, most people just want to avoid getting stuck in jams, so they’d park their cars and head over to the MRT stations. With Park and Ride, they can do exactly that (duh!) at a total of 16 stations.

Good thinking, MRT fellas. And just for your info, Singapore has this park and ride system, too.

50% discount for selected parties

Yes, the ticket sellers have been kind. A student, disabled or a senior citizen can get tokens at the counter for these prices. Proof might be required to purchase at this price though.

Wanna go and check out the National Museum, or just go for shopping for arts and crafts at Pasar Seni? The MRT has got you covered with all the hot spots from one end of KL-Selangor-Wilayah Persekutuan to another (almost!).
