10 Facts About City Square’s Suspended Net Playground You’re Dying to Know

Singapore is getting pretty exciting these days. From the Marina Bay Carnival to the Christmas fair at Gardens by the Bay, you will be too preoccupied to notice that your friends are overseas.

2018 is just a few days away, and we are pretty stoked for it.

Apart from shedding your old skin—if you’re into the new year, new me mantra—there is going to be a suspended playground making its way to Singapore in 2018!

Yes, suspended in midair.

Making City Square mall its home come next year, here are 10 facts about this gravity-defying (so to speak) playground that you should know before it opens to the public.

1) Airzone

Aptly called the Airzone, this attraction will spread across six levels in City Square Mall. Everyone is looking forward to it, especially after Xavier Lur’s tweet which garnered over 14k retweets.

2) A world’s first

The brainchild of Airzone, Ultimate Entertainments Group told Channel NewsAsia that this project is the “world’s first” net playground built in a shopping centre atrium and it will hold up to 20 people per level and a total of 60 people at a time.

Another thing to add on to the list of things Singaporeans can be proud of!

3) When is it open

As of writing time, there is no exact date. According to Channel NewsAsia, the playground is set to open in the first quarter of 2018.

That is not too far off if you ask me.

4) Prices

Everything is still in its infancy stage, but the pricing and session times will be released soon.

According to their website, there is a standard ticket and a 4-session pass. The latter supposedly allows you to have more fun aka more sessions and it is only exclusive to local residents.

5) Airzone Slide

This is just one of the four zones—you will be able to climb to the highest point before you slide down to the next level.

The king of all slides.

6) Airzone Relax and Play

If you just want to lepak and still have fun, then this one is for you. Located at level 2, you will be able to feel what’s it like to walk on the moon.

7) Airzone ball pit

For those who had a deprived childhood, this is your chance to claim it back. What is better than a ball pit?

A suspended ball pit!

You will be drowning with happiness and nostalgia as there will be over 100,000 balls in the pit!

8) Airzone Maze

If you’re are a fan of maze, you’re in for a treat. This mind-boggling maze will cover two levels, replete with paths and slope—you have your work cut out for you.

9) How safe is it?

You’re probably wondering, “is it safe?”

Ultimate Entertainments Group told Channel NewsAsia that the net structures “are actually safety features themselves.”

Ultimate Entertainments Group also mentioned that the anchors holding the playground in place were designed to hold the weight of a car.

10) Some facts to calm your nerves

If you’re feeling still feeling queasy, don’t be. The nets and high wires are designed for trapeze and circus acts.

If its safe enough for stunt devils, I am sure it will be safe for you.

Their website also states that the airstronauts (that’s what they call the participants) are required to be under 120 kg!

Before you start raging, it is probably for safety reasons.

More reasons to shed off that excess weight for the new year!
