The logo of Monster Energy is created by a California-based strategic branding firm. People might think that the “M” on the can is just to represent the word “Monster”, but the “M” on the can is designed like a claw with the idea of making it look like it’s a monster ripping through the can.

Extreme sports events


Monster Energy is known as an extreme energy drink, and this extreme energy drink actually supports many extreme sports events like BMX, Motocross, Speedway, skateboarding and snowboarding.

Caffeine


The size of Monster Energy drinks are mostly in 16 oz sizes, and the caffeine contents inside each can is 160mg. A can of Red Bull has 80 mg caffeine in their 8.46 oz size, which also means if you drink one can of Monster Energy, it’s equivalent to drinking almost two cans of Red Bull.

Warning labels


There are usually warning labels on cans advising consumers not to drink more than 48 oz per day. Monster Energy drinks in Australia advise people to drink not more than 16 oz per day instead, and Europe does not have this kind of warning labels on their packaging.

Pregnant


Pregnant women are not recommended to drink Monster Energy drinks. Caffeine can increase the chances of miscarriage with only 100 mg consumed per day. People that are sensitive to caffeine are not advised to take Monster Energy drinks as well. Lawsuit


Monster Energy drink’s company has a policy to sue companies or group which used the word “Monster” or the letter “M” in their marketing for trademark infringement. They sued a Vermont microbrewery that marketed a beer named “Vermonster”, but eventually dropped their lawsuit because of the negative publicity that the lawsuit had caused.

Death


During December 2011, a 14-year-old died of “cardiac arrhythmia due to caffeine toxicity” after consuming two 710ml cans of Monster Energy drink, containing a total of 475 mg caffeine. The 14-year old had a pre-existing heart condition, as well as Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, the parents sued the company but Monster Energy has insisted that it’s drink did not cause the 14-year old death.

Beastie Boys


The Beastie Boys were an American hip hop/rock band from New York City. They sued Monster Energy in 2012 for copyright infringement over the use of their music in an online campaign. Monster Energy owed the group $1.7 million after a jury found that they had infringed on Beastie Boys copyright by using their songs without permission.

Monster Energy also sponsors three professional eSports team, Evil Geniuses, Team EnVyUs and Fnatic. Evil Geniuses went on to win a major Dota 2 competition in 2015 and won the top prize of $6,634,661.
