Remember George Yeo, our former politician? Nope, this article is not about him. Rather, it is about his niece that you might not even know about. Introducing Gewendoline Yeo, whom has established her career successfully. Some of these facts might even surprise you!
1. She moved to California as a teenager
Gewendoline moved to California as a teenager, and completed her studies there. She Graduated with honours from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in 1994. She also graduated summa cum laude (latin honours) from UCLA in 1997.
2. Music Lover
Her love for music earned her a diploma in Classical Piano from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. It has also led her to specialize in playing the traditional Chinese instrument, guzheng, which culminated in a one-woman radio show on NPR-KCRW. This included the debut of her first two zither/vocal tracks “Kiss My Grits” and “Lovers.”
3. Miss Asian America
She was crowned Miss Asian America in 1995 and was also named Miss Chinatown USA in 1998-1999. This led to her getting some TV presenting jobs, as well as a few commercials. From there, her television and film careers blossomed.
4. Desperate Housewives
She actually played Xiao-Mei, the Chinese maid of Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) in Desperate Housewives. She’s also recurring character in the season. Shocking, eh?
5. General Hospital
Not only that, she also played Dr. Kelly Lee in General Hospital.
6. Television Series
She had past appearances which includes television series 24, JAG, NYPD Blue and The O.C. Apart from that, she had also guest starred in an episode of Hannah Montana and Chuck.
7. Voice Actress
Not only television series, she was also a voice actress of Paine in Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts II. The voice of Lady Deathstrike in X-Men: Next Dimension, Mercy Graves in The Batman, Li-en in Zatch Bell!, and Lieutenant Keiko Tanaka in an episode of What’s New, Scooby Doo? was also covered by her. What a talent!
8. Age
She will be forty years old this year, given that she is born in July 10, 1977. The pass forty years of her life has probably been really fulfilling. Actress, model, and musician? This is a perfect angel right here.
9. Why she got into acting
In one of the interview, she mentioned that she has a personality where she has a lot of passion, aggression, anger, sadness and laughter that she needed to get it out. Hence, the only place where she feels like she’ll get complimented for being so emotional is in the entertainment field, where having an attitude gets you somewhere.
10. Perfection
She also stated that being brought up believing that being perfect is the best thing to do, she had to get it right. However, most of her journey as an actress, an artist, and a musician, has forced her to be comfortable in her own skin. Not being perfect and trusting herself, that being who she is, is perfect enough. You go girl!
