Known as a heavy industrial estate, Tuas has been an uncharted territory to many of us. Not until recently, plans and progress have brought Tuas into the limelight.

We start to wonder if we actually knew Tuas well enough. Here’s why we have found nine interesting facts to share with you to appreciate Tuas better!

1. Residential Buildings

I bet you didn’t know that there is a number of residential buildings situated at Tuas, eh? Provided at a low cost, it’s actually for the people who work there.

The low-rise flats are normally named from Block A to H, usually 9 to 11 stories high.

2.  Simple and Practical

Which brings me to the next point: that their facilities are not designed elegantly. However, they are able to meet the basic residential requirements of the workers, providing shelter with an electricity and water supply.

The workers surely won’t mind a simple o’ building as long as they have a shelter above their heads!

3. Tuas Supermarket

Convenience makes a whole lot of difference for the workers.

Hence, Tuas has a supermarket that caters specifically for them. I’m pretty sure the prices are affordable too.

4. Secret Beach

Tuas has a secret beach. Yes, you’ve heard me. It’s a secret and it’s what has kept the sand clean and waters tranquil.

Not many humans have set foot on this beach which makes it even more secretive. Perhaps you might want to plan a romantic mini-getaway there!

5. Tuas is not in Jurong

I repeat, Tuas is not in Jurong. Jurong is in Jurong.

Tuas is in Tuas. Jurong has HDB. Tuas has no HDB.

6. Industries

Tuas boasts the largest industrial site in Singapore mainland. I bet most of us have already known about this, but I’m just gonna confirm it anyway.

7. And… Incinerators

Also, just in case you didn’t know, two of the four incinerators of Singapore are also found in Tuas.

8. Raffles Country Club

Found in the far and quiet end of Southwest of Singapore, the Raffles Golf Course there boasts a scenic view as designed by world-renowned golf designer Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Pretty cool, if you ask me.

9. Tuas TV World

Remember all our Channel 8 classic dramas? Mediacorp Tuas TV World was built to recreate the ambience of a bustling town of 1950s – shophouses, mansions and roads.

Just in case you’re curious, you just need to exit left (either exit 14 or 14A) as you move towards Tuas before the checkpoint. Turn left immediately after the exit and it will bring you to the area.

You’re welcome.
