I really dislike bullies.
As a guy who’s experienced it in school, I’ve never really understood why people want to do it.
The act of making someone miserable for your own pleasure: don’t those guys have better things to do?
This can be especially bad during teenage years as emotions are constantly running rampant and bullying does nothing to help that.
And then we have this incident that will probably make you flare like the Human Torch.
Bullying To Torture
Because I’m pretty sure it’s not just bullying if someone is in the hospital.
According to World Of Buzz, a 13-year-old boy, Yusof, was rushed to the hospital after being splashed by boiling hot water from a 12-year-old bully at Pusat Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiah.
This happened around 4am in the morning and the victim suffered burns on his left side and thigh.
Why the heck would you ever injure someone like that?
The reason for such an act? There was apparently a misunderstanding.
Hello, I’m pretty sure most normal people don’t attempt assault over a disagreement.
According to Yusof, the victim had previously attacked him after Asar prayers by punching him and stuffing cat poop into his mouth.
Yusof’s mom, Siti Satariah Ahmad, even stated that he had to go through physiotherapy for recovery.
She also recalls him running away from the centre on 1 March as he couldn’t stand the bullying.
The reason for this? Two days before that he had come back with bruises from being beaten up.
What the heck is this religious centre doing to control their students?
Siti also said that for all the 10 days her son was in the ICU, none of his Ustaz came to visit him and the school didn’t help to cover their S$131 medical bill.
Even when the bully’s family offered her around S$984 dollar of compensation, Siti and her husband refused and wanted to go to court.
Yes because I’m sure money can make up for all the trauma inflicted on Yusof.
Principal’s Side
Naturally, the school had to do some damage control.
But some of the opposing details are…highly suspect.
According to the principal of the tahfiz centre, Muhammad Zahid, this apparently isn’t a bullying case but one of misunderstanding.
Hold up. What?
He said that the injuries were exaggerated and only a cup of water was used but we literally have a picture above that shows the boy hospitalised.
“Usually, problematic students don’t stay here too long but this student (the bully) has been here for two years. This issue is beyond our control.”
Time to reconsider then, Mr Principal.
While I smell a lot of unsavouriness behind this incident, I can’t judge since we can’t be too sure from words and pictures alone.
At the very least, I hope Yusof us recovering well and something like that doesn’t happen again.
And if you’re a bully or have ever bullied someone, think about the consequences of your actions.
