15-Year-Old Who Saved Bus Accident Victim With CPR Gets Community Lifesaver Award

Remember the 15-year-old girl who saved a woman after a bus incident?

I’m sure we all share the same thoughts that she deserves to be commended on her quick-thinking and selfless actions.

So here I am, letting you know that her brave act has been readily affirmed by the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Congrats, Diniy!

Diniy Qurratuaini received the Community Lifesaver Award from the Singapore Civil Defence Force on Friday (6 Sept) at the 2nd SCDF Division Headquarters in Tampines.

A quick recap of what happened: She was on her ‘usual bus ride’ home on 19 July when the bus hit a pedestrian at a traffic light crossing in New Upper Changi Road.

When the pedestrian was found unconscious, Diniy was quick on her feet and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the woman. This allowed her to regain consciousness. She even waited with her until the paramedics arrived.

Colonel Alan Toh, Commander of the 2nd SCDF Division, said that SCDF encourages members of the public to emulate Diniy’s selfless actions. This is important as such Community First Responders helps to assist the situation until the SCDF arrives at the scene. This could increase one’s chance of survival.

Age Doesn’t Matter When You Are Saving Lives

Her act of selflessness is admirable, hands down. Given that she is only a 15-year-old student, it shows how age really doesn’t matter when it comes to saving lives.

I came across this quote yesterday, saying that “You don’t have to save the world in one stroke, but you can make a difference, one person at a time.”

By saving a life, Diniy had made a difference in that woman’s life.

Doesn’t it inspire you to save a life too?

Now go be a Community First Responder, you are never too young or too old to save a life!
