Can’t be bothered to travel, or pay, for beautiful pink sakura flowers at Gardens By The Bay?

Well, you have the opportunity to see a similarly impressive floral display without paying a single cent.

Yes, that time of the year has come again.

No, I’m not talking about Budget 2022.

I’m talking about the period when brightly coloured flowers bloom once more on Singapore’s plentiful greenery.

Gorgeous Flowers Blooming In Singapore

On 27 Feb 2022, Facebook user Sean Chua took to the Cloudspotting & SkySpotting Singapore Group to spread the word about gorgeous pink flowers being sighted along the Singapore River at Robertson Quay.

He wasn’t the only one who came across the Tokyo-worthy sight and another Facebook user, Fern Ng, also shared her experience, this time at Jurong Lake Gardens.

By then, the flowers had wilted and fallen, decorating the ground and water of the gardens.

Here’s Why Some Trees in S’pore Are Experiencing Sakura Season During This Period

According to NParks, some plants are induced to bloom from light and temperature.

Some plants require “stimulation of light and temperature to produce flowers.

The mass-blooming of flowers back in 2014 was caused by the longest dry spell in Singapore’s history followed by the rains.

While February 2022 was a wet month for Singapore with above-average rainfall, there were still several days of warm weather, with the highest daily temperature recorded at 35.1 degrees Celsius on 20 and 21 Feb 2022.

The wet weather that happened in Feb 2022 is expected to continue into the first two weeks of March 2022.

Daily temperatures, however, aren’t expected to fall back into the “air-con-like” condition we’ve experienced back in February 2022.

On most days, the daily temperature is expected to be between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius.

The previous massive flowering of Singapore’s greenery happened in March 2021.

From Cat Claw Ivy to Pink Mempat, Trumpet Trees and more, they’re blooming across Singapore on some streets and highways
