We have all heard those words before.
If you drink, don’t drive. And if you drive, don’t drink.
But somehow, some people still don’t get the memo and choose to be reckless.
“I’m drunk, but hey, don’t worry. I’m still sober enough to drive.”
*crash*
Them:
These people aren’t just putting their own lives in danger, but they’re also implicating others.
In the early hours of Friday, 11 October, a 22-year-old man was arrested after he crashed his lorry into a pre-school located at Blk 553 Serangoon North Avenue 3.
Yes, a pre-school.
According to Stomp, the police said that they were notified of this incident at around 12.47am on Friday.
The lorry driver was reportedly conscious when he was taken to Sengkang General Hospital. He was later arrested for drink-driving.
As of now, investigations are still ongoing.
What Happened
Stomp contributor Prabhu posted photos of the incident after he and his wife passed by the area after visiting his mother-in-law.
It seems that the lorry mounted the kerb and hit a tree before crashing into the Little Green House pre-school.
He and his wife decided to check out what had happened and a couple at the scene claimed that right before the accident, they saw a group of men drinking.
Prabhu then approached the group of men to ask if one of them was the one who drove the lorry, and he was only met with the vacant stares of a traumatised young driver.
I mean, he was probably thinking about how much trouble he was going to be in because he was drink-driving.
See kids, this is why you don’t drink and drive.
Aftermath
A spokesman for the Little Green House pre-school mentioned that two of their staff members were there since 1am to assist with investigations and their team immediately notified the parents of their pre-schoolers not to bring their children to school that Friday.
Repairs will be done over the weekend and they hope that they can continue to operate by Monday.
The 22-year-old man was really lucky that he didn’t cause any injuries to anyone (because no one would be in the school at 12am).
Of course, despite this, he still caused an inconvenience to the pre-school. Let’s hope that this will be a powerful reminder for him to never drink and drive again.
So remember guys, if you drink, don’t drive. And if you drive, don’t drink.
Not even a drop. Just ask Roz Pho.
