If you’ve been following the number of new Covid-19 cases being reported daily, you’ll understand why Singapore is starting to ease up on some Covid-19 measures.

Yesterday, Singapore reported 15 new Covid-19 cases.

This brings the total number of cases here to 57,654.

Here’s The Breakdown

Community Cases

There are no cases in the community.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the average number of daily new cases in the community remains at one per day over the past two weeks.

The average number of unlinked cases in the community has also remained stable at fewer than one over the past two weeks.

TL; DR: Good news, keep up the good work.

Imported Cases

There were 5 imported cases reported yesterday, all of whom were placed on Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.

Four of them, including a 44-year-old Singaporean, had returned to Singapore from India.

The remaining imported case had come to Singapore from Indonesia.

Migrant Workers Living In Dormitories

There were 10 cases reported in the dormitories.

According to MOH, five of them are contacts of earlier-confirmed cases and were placed on quarantine earlier.

The remaining five were detected through MOH’s surveillance testing.

A dormitory cluster at 15 Kaki Bukit Crescent was also closed by MOH since there have been no new cases linked to it for 28 days.

For those who were in the same area during the same timeframe, the ministry advises them to monitor their health for the next 14 days.

See a doctor if you experience any symptoms.

On 24 Sep 2020, 42 new Covid-19 cases were discharged from the hospital and community care facilities (CCFs).

This brings the number of people who’ve recovered in Singapore to 57,333.

There are 28 more Covid-19 cases in hospitals with no Covid-19 case in the intensive care unit.

At the CCFs, there are another 266 Covid-19 patients being isolated and cared for.

Trends

10 out of 15 were placed on SHN or quarantined earlier before being tested positive.

This means that out of the new cases reported yesterday, two-third of them were identified early enough and isolated before they could infect even more people, and their contacts will have the same treatment too.

Handsome face against Covid-19, Mr Lawrence Wong, had said that as long as they managed to identify and ring-fence Covid-19 cases early, we can see the number of cases from dormitories drop in the coming days.

However, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong added, the possibility of new cases hitting zero completely is impossible without an effective vaccine.
