We all have that habit of holding our pee, especially back in primary school when the teacher-in-charge just refuses to let you off.

Me: *Raise hand* Cher, I want go toilet

Heartless Teacher: No, you just went 30 minutes back

Me: ???

But this Chinese man in Beijing wasn’t stopped by his teacher.

Instead, he was stopped by his drunken self.

Yup, being drunk never end up well.

A Get-Together With His Friend

The man, Li Hua, was at Hunan Province for a business trip, when he decided to meet a couple of friends for a drink.

Little did he know the get-together dragged late into the night, and although he felt the urge to pee, HE REFUSED TO.

Later that night, Li Hua suffered from intense abdominal pain and could not pee despite the urge to.

He also said that his entire abdomen felt tight and was painful when he pressed against it.

Little did he know – again – it was more than just “intense abdominal pain”.

His Bladder “Exploded”

The doctor had told Li Hua that his bladder rupture had led to haemorrhaging and peritonitis.

Peritonitis is the inflammation of a silk-like membrane that lines your inner abdominal wall and can result from rupture in your abdominal.

In short, Li Hua had held on to his pee too long, and there was way too much pee in his bladder, so it exploded and resulted in other complications.

According to Medical News Today, while a burst bladder due to holding on to pee is extremely rare, it is possible when the bladder is filled beyond capacity.

The doctor has since performed emergency surgery to drain the urine in Li Hua’s abdomen and had repaired his ruptured bladder.

Li Hua is reported to be recovering well in the hospital now.

Complications Of Holding Pee

There are tons of complications that are a result of a simple issue such as holding your urine.

Possible consequences include pain while urinating, urinary tract infection due to bacteria accumulation, bladder stretching, damage t pelvic floor muscles, or kidney stones.

Whatever the complications may be, never hold your urine!

If your teacher is anything like mine, ask them if they’ll be paying for your medical fees the next time they don’t allow you to go to the toilet.

But still, don’t abuse the system lah. Where got student need to go toilet every 10 minutes one?
