New COVID-19 Clusters Reported on 27 July Include a Pri School Cleaner & a Dorm

It’s been less than a week since the second Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) started, but it already feels like months since we had a meal outside.

Every day, we check the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) website hoping to see the case numbers magically dwindle, but this hasn’t exactly been happening.

In fact, if you’ve been keeping up with the daily case count, the last thing you’d want to do is go outside.

Here are the details of yesterday’s COVID-19 report:

4 New COVID-19 Clusters, Including a Pri School Cleaner & a Dorm

Four new COVID-19 clusters have formed, bringing the total number of active clusters in the country to 39.

One of the clusters is linked to a cleaner at Punggol Primary School, while another was identified at Westlite Juniper Dormitory.

The school cluster currently has four cases, while the dormitory cluster has nine.

The remaining two clusters involved individual cases. Both have three infections each.

Jurong Fishery Port Cases Surpass 900

In total, 136 new locally transmitted infections were reported yesterday, of whom 55 were unlinked.

36 cases were added to the Jurong Fishery Port cluster, meaning it now has 902 infections.

The KTV cluster grew as well, though only by 2 cases. It now has 245 cases.

Free ART Test Kits For Visitors of Two Markets

Visited Teban Gardens Market and Food Centre or 216 Bedok Food Centre and Market in the last two weeks?

Well, you can collect an antigen rapid test (ART) kit for free at Residents’ Committee Centres near the two markets.

The collection will run today (28 July) and tomorrow.

Those who are eligible for the test kits are strongly encouraged to collect and use them, MOH said.

All Households in Singapore to Receive COVID-19 Test Kits

Even if you haven’t visited any markets lately, you’ll still be getting a free ART test kit.

In the mass distribution exercise, ART test kits will first be given out to those living near markets with large clusters.

Eventually, every household in the country will get these kits.

This way, we can get tested early on and isolate ourselves before we spread the virus further.

To know more about these test kits, watch this video to the end:

545 Cases in Hospital

At the moment, there are 545 COVID-19 cases in hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.

21 severe cases require oxygen supplementation, while two are in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU). One among them was fully vaccinated. However, she had underlying medical conditions.

13 of them are seniors who have fallen very ill. Of them, only one was fully vaccinated.

As the evidence continues to show, vaccination helps to prevent serious disease from COVID-19.
