We’re near the end of the month, and unlike projections that state that we might have 40,000 confirmed cases by end-May, we might have less than 35k cases instead.

Today, 533 cases are reported.

This means Singapore now has 32,876 cases.

Out of today’s cases, 3 are Singaporeans or Singapore PRs.

A majority of the cases are work permit holders living in dormitories.

On average, based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of 4 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 7 per day in the past week. This is partly due to MOH’s active surveillance and screening of nursing home residents and pre-school staff, which have picked up more cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at an average of 2 per day in the past two weeks.

MOH has started to list down the places that COVID-19 patients have been, and yesterday, it seems like the west is where the virus likes to reside in.

West Side Virus Side?

On Monday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) released, for the first time, the list of places that Covid-19 patients have been to during their “infectious period”.

It excludes the patients’ workplaces, public transport, healthcare facilities and residences as all close contacts would’ve been contacted by MOH.

And the two entries on the list belonged to Jurong Point, a popular shopping mall in the west:

  • 20 May 2020 / 4.30pm-6pm / Jurong Point (NTUC FairPrice)
  • 21 May 2020 / 5.30pm-6.30pm / Jurong Point (Shokhutsu Ten Japanese Food Street)

Yesterday, it’s updated with two more places:

  • 24 May 2020 / 6am-8am / Jurong West Street 91 wet market
  • 24 May 2020 / 1pm-2pm / Jurong Point Fairprice Xtra

With that, both Fairprice outlets at Jurong Point have been added to the list.

Anyone who had visited the places during the same period must monitor their own health for the next 14 days.

If there are any symptoms, please see a doctor immediately.
