I bet you didn’t know who Katherine Ho is.

Here, an image of the beauty might help:

Still scratching your head and wondering who the heck she is?

As your BFF, here’s some background info about this ex-actress who’s been searched in Google more frequently recently.

Katherine Ho, Second Runner Up of Miss Hong Kong 2014

This year alone, we’ve got two Miss Hong Kong runners-up stealing the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

First, we’ve Jacqueline Wong, the runner-up for Miss Hong Kong 2012 who’s still crying her hearts out in the US and probably would be a bankrupt soon. And now we’ve Katherine Ho, the second runner-up in Miss Hong Kong 2014.

After the contest (or maybe before or during; we can’t be sure), she met millionaire Wu Zhicheng, SJM Holdings Limited’s Operations President. And the reason why he’s so rich? His company is one the six companies that’s authorised to operate casino games in Macau. And given that Macau’s money is mostly from casinos, you can bet that Katherine loves him for his character.

Apparently, Katherine Ho had met Wu Zhicheng at a promotional event by the millionaire’s company, and Wu fell in love with her at first sight.

Not to be rude, but who won’t fall in love with Katherine Ho at first sight?

The thing is, Wu is now 67, which means he met Katherine when he was 62 while Katherine was a young 22. The forty years difference doesn’t matter to the both of them, as Katherine, despite having minor roles in TVB dramas, was more well-known as a millionaire’s girlfriend than an actress.

Which explains why you might not recognize her name.

The couple married last year (2018), and that was when Katherine stopped her fading showbiz career to focus on…I don’t know, maybe giving birth?

Well, if it’s that simple, we won’t be writing about this.

Marriage Broke Down Almost Immediately

Nine months after they were married, Katherine Ho was photographed partying with 50-year-old billionaire Anson Chan. They were also caught kissing each other.

During that period, there were also reports about Katherine and Wu’s rocky relationship; apparently, they had regular fights as Katherine wanted three children but Wu didn’t want even one child.

And so, last month, they announced their divorce.

It’s unknown whether the Anson incident or the differences in view led to the divorce.

Last month, both of them issued a statement for a good optics to set the record straight:

“To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, we actually split up last year. We have since lived our own lives separately from one another. However, both privately and publicly at events, we have maintained a great friendship. We are thankful to have met one another. Our relationship never involved finances or money. We split up under friendly and understanding circumstances. Our breakup did not involve any monetary disputes. We remain good friends.”

Wait…last year?

I thought they got married last year?!

It’s unknown what Katherine could get from the divorce, but reports suggest that as part of the split-up arrangement, Katherine received a HK$18 million (S$3.4 million) property.

And as mentioned, Katherine is making a comeback to showbiz.

Here’s an interesting fact: there’s a TVB drama called Deep In The Realm Of Conscience, in which both Katherine Ho and Jacqueline Wong starred in.

Like what I’ve said countless times before, there are many losers in these scandals, but there’s just one winner.
